Still on my Earthling binge- Been finding live clips of the tunes to see how the band played them on the road. Some killer guitar playing from @reevesgabrels.bsky.social on this track!

Back at Jazz’d tonight for a trio gig-

Back at Jazz’d tonight for a trio gig-

Finished Morrison & @liamsharp.bsky.social’s The Green Lantern- I feel like this series didn’t get the eyes on it that it deserved as it’s hands down one of the most visually interesting and defiantly experimental takes on Hal Jordan and the GL/cosmic DC mythos I’ve read. Highly recommend 👍👍

First Savannah Bananas home game this season ⚾️ 🍌

We lost our sweet Bee tonight. She was the kindest, snuggliest, and most personable dog I ever knew and brought smiles to the faces of everyone who met her. We’ve known this was coming for a while, but it still hit our family like a ton of bricks. She was a good dog. Rest in Peace 💔

Mister Sinister firing a cannon that shoots facehuggers has been the highlight of Aliens vs. Avengers so far 🥇

Revisited All-Star Superman- As inventive as it is affecting, this series distills the essence of Kal-El down to his most inspiring form, and Quitely’s art provides such emotional and narrative lift that each line of Morrison’s concise narration has space to resonate. 10/10

New comic book day! #wereadscomics #ncbd

Kicking off this rainy Wednesday with The Dead’s American Beauty- "Look out of any window any morning, any evening, any day. Maybe the sun is shining birds are winging or rain is falling from a heavy sky…”

Sometimes, a dark Superman story does work

Yep

Every couple years I get an itch for Bowie’s Earthling and listen to it nonstop for a week or two. Put it on this morning and have been hooked all day.

A random side gig I picked up recently is transcribing, transposing & arranging music for other artists to perform. A guitarist reached out about doing Dylan’s "Idiot Wind” from Blood On The Tracks, but in the Open D tuning and style of the bootleg '74 version. Excited to hear what they do with it!

Just noticed that these @liamsharp.bsky.social Green Lantern: Blackstars covers connect- About to start Season Two of this series and it has been a blast. This is my third time reading through and I’m still finding new details, allusions, and clues in every issue. Such a great run!

With David Lynch gone, I’ve resorted to getting my fix of unnerving surrealism and the industrial horror of American mundanity from the new season of Love Is Blind.

Jean-Claude Van Damme: No one in Timecop can have a more righteous mullet than me. Richard Faraci:

Exploring Gainesville, Florida-

New record for the collection- The Wood Brothers-The Muse (2013) Start-to-finish great album. These guys are incredible.

Excited to check out the new Sly Stone documentary, "Sly Lives, aka the Burden of Black Genius.” Sly is one of my favorite artists and deserves way more recognition- Here’s a clip of me doing one of his tunes back in 2020 with Big E, who played bass for a stint with Sly in the 80’s.

I don’t pick up a lot of new Marvel stuff, but decided to pull One World Under Doom and thought it was a solid read 👍 Interesting, well-executed premise that drew me in even though I’m not following any current titles. Excited to see how it plays out- #ncbd #marvel #comics

Played two shows with some members of the Hilton Head Symphony Monday and Tuesday evening out at Soundwave Studios- Got the afternoon off today then teaching a guitar lesson tonight at 5PM. Good stuff. Loving this tele. So versatile.

Back at it tonight in Hilton Head-

Fun gig tonight out at Soundwave Studios in Hilton Head!

Played my first music festival 12 years ago today- Statesboro Music Festival (February 9th, 2013) Opened for Perpetual Groove with my college band. Played in front of a barn. We spent about about 7 years trying to break through before breaking up in 2014.

Currently watching- Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult We had this on VHS when I was a kid and my brother and I watched it constantly. Haven’t seen it in ages but damn do some of these bits still crack me up. Infinitely quotable…

A Belgian Golden Ale to celebrate learning three different sets for the Hilton Head Symphony in a week. I haven’t played the shows yet, but thought I deserved a treat for doing all of the homework. We’ll see how it all shakes out Monday-Wednesday at Soundwave Studios-

Wild to me that this Swamp Thing action figure I got in the early 90’s still glows in the dark….

Friday afternoon record spin-

Some issues of IL GRIFO I bought at a bookshop in Venice last summer- Cover art by Brian Bolland, Danijel Žeželj, and Milo Manara
