So both of these little guys are done. Fun models to paint, and looking at them tugs on my nostalgia strings. Loved this version of the Hobbit when I was a kid, and watched it endlessly with my own kids when they were little.

Repost with the five shows you would be happy to rewatch over and over for the rest of your life, as your sole TV diet. Robin of Sherwood Parks and Recreation WKRP in Cincinnati Monty Python’s Flying Circus Stranger Things

Moseyed into @halfpricebooks.bsky.social in Dublin today. Forgot there was a 20% off sale this weekend. Best $12 I’ve spent all week.

I’ve been struggling trying to wrap my head around an idea for a story I was asked to write. Took a walk today, and the whole idea just hit me like a ton of bricks. Time to warm up my typing fingers!

Cautionary tale.

Lately I find myself wishing I could be blissfully ignorant. But mostly I just sit here reading the news and vacillating between “seething with rage” and “anxiously hopeless.”

A few years back, I was binge-reading @stephenking.bsky.social , and gave myself tendinitis in my thumb from the way I hold books.

I’m saving “Humpy Wheeler is an executive of NASCAR,” for the next time someone complains about a fictional character name.

Latest project off the hobby table. Finished this one up last night.

I woke up this morning with the song “Breakfast Machine” from the movie Pee Wee’s Big Adventure running through my head. So I can already tell it’s going to be a weird day. youtu.be/KVdqwD_bcPs?...

Today in two completely different conversations with two completely different groups of people I’ve been able to reference two completely different scenes from Weird Al’s “UHF.” I feel like I should probably buy a lotto ticket on the way home.

Thought: in sci-fi, there’s apparently a job that’s the person who “puts red lights into a robot’s eyes, so it can activate them when it turns evil." Wouldn’t it make more sense to include a “don’t be evil” chip instead?

This anthology "Monster Bones" came out in March, and I totally spaced on it. Includes my story “Charnel Moon,” about a less-than-savory character who meets up with something evil in a cemetery. Edited by @stephellis.bsky.social , published by @cemeterydance.bsky.social Check it out!

Thought for the moment: surfing was to the pop culture of the 60s, as karate was to the pop culture of the 80s.

CARTOON OF THE DAY (From @dccartoonist.bsky.social )

There used to be a greasy spoon burger joint I went to every few months (Oscar’s, in downtown Berkeley, Ca). It closed after something like 50 years, and was replaced by a Japanese restaurant of some sort. I will forever lament never being able to get another Oscar’s burger.

After a pal’s text-to-speech went berserk in an iMessage, from now on I’ll be calling HPL’s Nyarlathotep “Gnarly hood dip.”

Watching S2 of Daredevil (with Eleketra, and the Punisher). And the Hand is causing trouble, and every time those damn ninjas show up, I think of this song: youtu.be/pwdX2rUX0Wc?...

I was listening to a podcast about the Icelandic sagas today. Halfway into it they start talking about the Lay of Thrym, and the hosts start howling with laughter. Reminded me of when my oldest was little and I told him that one and he couldn’t stop giggling. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/y...

It’s only doomscrolling if it’s from the Doom region of France. Otherwise it’s just sparkling relentless dread.
