Currently rereading; The diverse curriculum by Bennie Kara. Such a useful resource when going through any curriculum review during the summer is term after exams evaluation time. @benniekara.bsky.social

Not gonna lie, driving from Brighton to Derby and hitting the M25, is not the dream. 3 hours and I have sought refuge at Toddington.

Starting my day at the Brighton University Difference makes the Difference Conference, representing Diverse Educators. Great to meet BlueSky connections already!

If you are still teaching Anne Hathaway by Duffy, this might come in handy.

Reminder of the ridiculousness of not wanting trans women in women’s toilets.

Huge amounts of love to transwomen out there. You are valued. You will be supported. You have allies. www.theguardian.com/law/live/202...

Transfer Deadline Day for small children is today. Pleased to say we have added Little 3 to the primary school of our choice.

This is an awfully good read. I like books where there is an easy narrative voice - Das has this and weaves in so much detail.

I learned a lot from this - well worth a listen/read.

Are Muslims really banning dogs in parks? 🤔 Let’s look at this perfect example of how rage baiting works, and how disinformation spreads, sticks, and fuels division, even years after being debunked… 🧵1/22 (1/1)

Biggest smiles ❤️

It was fab to catch up with Pearson’s Pam McLoughlin and talk all things English teaching. Have a listen to the episode here: on.soundcloud.com/8jdTBEyvvL8k...

Seen elsewhere but marvelled again at how clever and funny this is. One for #TeamEnglish. @myf1990.bsky.social @barbarableiman.bsky.social @benniekara.bsky.social

NEW POST! Teachers often grapple with teaching about problematic figures from history. Here's a quick look at how you might approach them in your teaching: open.substack.com/pub/bennieka... (£)

Just waiting to deliver my keynote this morning on Unlocking the Library of Humanity, for the wonderful guests at the UnlockEd RSN Conference on literacy and social equity. It promises to be a brilliant day! @sarahmullins.bsky.social

This man is amazing. If you ever get a chance to hear Amar Latif speak, please jump at it!

Delighted to be listening to Amar Latif OBE today at the St Christopher’s MAT headteachers and early years teachers conference. I will be talking about diversity in the curriculum, inclusive leadership and challenging prejudice later! #EduSky

This is a great read on the Trump presidency. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

How does one person cope with this? I can’t even imagine what it’s like. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I’m always asked how teachers can find information on women and global majority figures who are significant yet underused in schools. On my substack, I post articles to help. This week: Hedy Lamarr. benniekara.substack.com/p/hedy-lamarr #Edusky

This is not attention grabbing just a quick post of appreciation for the NHS. My chronic illness decided to go for iconic status today. I’ve been superbly looked after. Protect the NHS - it’s beautiful.

The primal scream of racists is happening right now. Look how easy it is to deny the contributions of women and people of colour when angry white men take charge. They are erased. Someone clever called it digital book burning. That’s exactly it.

Just finished Adolescence and oh my. Episode 2 at the school bothered me - mostly because I don’t want to believe schools like that still exist. Episodes 1 and 3, I was holding my breath. Episode 4 was just heartbreaking and raised questions and about responsibility. Just brilliant.

It’s not just Tate. Teachers might hear these names in schools - it’s a good idea to know what they stand for. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/m...

Have you ever thought that if the box seems too small, you should sit in it anyway but with panache?

I’m always interested in how language changes and develops. No surprises here, but still useful for those who teach about language.

English Teachers! I have two copies of Diverse Words and Voices to give away! Follow and reply and I will put names into a hat, and announce winners next Friday. #EduSky
