You know you've done fucked up when even Yuc Town is riled up. Hoping this leads to a constructive shift up here in the desert, as we've been voting to shoot our own foot for far too long now. Also, fuck Obernolte.

Guess who now has their spin instructor certification?! I can't wait to turn and burn professionally in a few weeks!!! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโœจ Now, for the hard part: creating playlists.

It's a bit jarring to be in the classroom with some of my AP English Language students on a Saturday for a mock exam. But damn, they're killing it. I'm so proud of this group.

Feelin' pretty after a Valentine's Day spin sesh! ๐Ÿ’– Happy Heart Day!

*Cries in Silmarillion* The Venn diagram of the character flaws of Thiel and Fรซanor is a circle. But, whereas Thiel is a selfish, obtuse prick who does nothing to better society, Fรซanor made significant contributions to society and culture before becoming a selfish, genocidal prick. Still, gross.

A storm's coming (FINALLY), which meant a spectacular sunset. I do love this little spot on Earth.

To the person who paid for a large portion of my sushi/sake order after I had a day filled with pep rally shenanigans, admin drama, and non-reelect meetings to sit in on: thank you so, so much. ๐Ÿ’–

What my students are reading this week: "A Talk to Teachers" by James Baldwin (1963) It is infuriating that, more than sixty years later, Baldwin's analysis of race and education in the US is still so very valid. A necessary read for all who hope to break oppressive cycles in our society.

Music for a sunny Saturday stroll:

I need more pics on here. So here I am, in all my sweaty, gay glory, after a lovely one-hour spin class. I can't wait to receive my spin certification and start to #turnandburn professionally next month at my little gym in the desert! ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโœจ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

If you can't handle me at my howdy, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my yeehaw.

The energy I'm bringing for the next four years (and until my final days). "Kvinnan med handvรคskan" (The Woman with the Handbag). Taken by photojournalist Hans Runesson. Vรคxjรถ, Sweden. April 1985.

Took advantage of the more seasonally-appropriate weather we're experiencing here in SoCal by going on a hike. Encountered these beauties on the trail. I gotta say, it's so neat seeing mule deer on the traditional lands of the Maarrรชnga'yam. ๐Ÿงต

Maybe listening to Bo Burnham's "All Eyes On Me" isn't the healthiest way to cope with our current situation, but boy howdy, it's such a good tune.

As a teacher, nothing is quite as unsettling as having all of your classes be devoid of energy and engagement. Ever since we returned from break, my students (and those of my colleagues) have been silent and aloof. On the flip side, there haven't been any "hand gestures," so that's a blessing. Ugh.

Best news all week. The dry, windy weather we've experienced for months now is icky.
