Caitlin Clark beginning her warmup ahead of her return from a quad strain Clark hasn’t played since facing the Liberty on May 24

Aces star A'ja Wilson is officially out for tonight's game against the Dallas Wings and is in concussion protocol, the team announced Friday.

nbox: The WNBA and Scripps/ION have announced that they have agreed to a new multi-year deal to continue airing Friday night games. ION has been a partner since 2023, and said it attracted 23 million viewers across games and wrap shows last year.

New No Offseason Ep! Me, @zenakeita.bsky.social + @sabreenajm.bsky.social. First, some thoughts after being around the Sky earlier this week Then, a breakdown of first-year head coaches. Philosophies, what we've seen/heard, highs/lows. What makes a good coach? www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaW1...

Line ‘Em Up is the W’s new nationwide campaign aimed at painting the official WNBA 3-point line on outdoor basketball courts across the country to create a space for women at public courts.

There are WNBA 3-point lines on some of the courts at Brooklyn Bridge Park as part of the W’s Line ‘Em Up launch. That doesn’t bode well for me considering I could only barely make 3s here before

Sandy Brondello reiterated Thursday that Jones is "day-to-day." Not status update re: Liberty-Fever on Saturday. "Be nice to have her back on Saturday," Brondello added, but the team is still building Jones "back up" in her rehab.

Libery star Sabrina Ionescu said this postgame about when Gauff was shown on the jumbotron. "I don't think I've heard it louder for someone in attendance than when (Gauff) was announced. It felt like we were scoring or on a run and I looked up and it was her being announced."

No Jonquel Jones tonight for the Liberty. Sandy Brondello said she was on the court earlier today, but is still “not quite there yet”

New No Offseason Ep! Me, @chanteljennings.bsky.social and @zenakeita.bsky.social. Thoughts on Sky-Fever and Valks-Aces. Everything YNTK about the House ruling and NCAA athletes being able to get paid. Then, Sue Bird on W media coverage, being a W owner and more www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkWD...

Caitlin Clark didn't suit up. Stephanie White wasn't in attendance. And the Fever still beat the Sky by 27 — and Courtney Vandersloot was injured in the process. Where does Chicago go from here? http://dlvr.it/TLDv1t

Courtney Vandersloot is officially out for the game with a knee injury, the team announced

Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot had to be helped off the floor after suffering an apparent leg injury after driving to the basket midway through the first quarter

We’re less than an hour before tipoff between the Sky and Fever, and there are plenty of Fever fans here in United Center receiving pregame autographs and selfies (including this fan in a seemingly custom Caitlin Clark/Iowa set)

Fever assistant coach Austin Kelly will serve as the acting head coach for Indiana tonight. Stephanie White did not travel with the team to Chicago on Friday because of a personal reason.

Also New No Offseason ep! Me, @zenakeita.bsky.social, @sabreenajm.bsky.social. We talked about my trend reporting below, Caitlin Clark + Paige injury updates, familiar faces in new places that have caught our eyes, plus a fun new game at the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhzy...

I wrote about a recent WNBA trend: a new generation of international players is coming into the league. On why that's the case; what it means for EuroBasket, the W, and the 2026 FIBA World Cup; and its impact on European leagues: www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

There is a surge in foreign-born WNBA players this season — and it's not just due to the Valkyries having an international-heavy roster. Ahead of EuroBasket beginning later in June, I dove into the uptick to explain the trend and its implications www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

In mid-May, there were 18 international players in their 1st or 2nd WNBA seasons In 2011, the W had just 15 foreign players I dove into the W's surge of international players. On the reasons many are now coming over. EuroBasket/FIBA dynamics. And effect in Europe. www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

Caitlin Clark wouldn't rule out the possibility of her return being next Tuesday vs. the Atlanta Dream. She said Thursday she'll be re-evaluated this weekend, still taking things "day by day" "I feel good," she said. "I’m not going to rush coming back." www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

Can confirm via a league source that Li Yueru has requested a trade from the Seattle Storm Yueru was part of the 3-team deal involving Kelsey Plum and Jewell Loyd this offseason. She's averaging 2.9p, 1.6rbs in 9.1 minutes per game this year. First on it @khristina.bsky.social

Via SportsMediaWatch: "Regional WNBA action featuring Sun-Fever in most markets averaged 851,000 viewers on ION Friday night." It's the network’s largest audience of the season and a 119% increase over the comparable window last year, per SMW www.sportsmediawatch.com/sports-ratin...

We also catch everyone up on the latest news and notes around the W, including explaining a topic we've been asked about a lot of late: What is a hardship contract exemption? Watch below, or listen wherever you get your podcasts!

If there is such a thing as a championship hangover, the Liberty haven’t heard of it. New York’s start bears resemblance to the 2023 Aces — who repeated as champions that year. Are we witnessing a similar story now with the Liberty? http://dlvr.it/TL72gF

Interestingly, this comes as the Connecticut Sun just announced they are signing Jaelyn Brown to a rest-of-season contract. (CT waived Robyn Parks this morning) Brown spent training camp with the Fever.

The Fever have signed former Sparks and Dream guard Aari McDonald to an emergency hardship exception. McDonald, the No. 3 pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft, of the Dream spent this past training camp with LA.

The Liberty’s victory set a new franchise-record for margin of victory. New York also tied a WNBA record for 3s made in a game (19) All 11 players scored. Jonquel Jones recorded a double-double, bringing NY to 27-0 in the regular season when she gets 10/10

Team USA’s Briana Weiss just presented Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and trainer Terri Acosta with USAB Olympic rings

The Liberty presented former assistant, and current Sun associate head coach Roneeka Hodges with her championship ring. “It was a wonderful three years that I spent here,” Hodges said pregame. “The icing on top was a championship.”

For episode 61 of Pull Up with Myles and Owen, we’re joined by @benpickman.bsky.social for a long overdue chat! Ben talks early-season takeaways, his journey covering women’s basketball, and gives insight into the current CBA negotiations. Here, he discusses Tash Cloud’s fit with the Liberty. 🔗 ⬇️

It's actually a fascinating basketball story how the Fever approach CC's injury given how much the offense flows through her. @benpickman.bsky.social wrote a really interesting piece today below. I am a big DeWanna Bonner mark so I hope she finds her stroke. www.nytimes.com/athletic/638...

Entering last night's action, Caitlin Clark had 19 assists to Aliyah Boston this year, tied for most in the WNBA. Kelsey Mitchell led all guards in shot attempts within 5ft. I wrote about what might look different for the Fever in Clark's absence. www.nytimes.com/athletic/638...

High praise from Diana Taurasi on Paige Bueckers’ future in the WNBA 🤝 http://dlvr.it/TL19Tj

The Liberty have officially announced their new investors. They are: -Jack Ma -Karen Finerman -Thasunda Brown Duckett -Karlie Kloss -Gabrielle Rubenstein -Samantha Lasry Team confirms proceeds from the investment will be used to fund their new practice facility

With that win, the Liberty move to 24-0 during the regular season when Jonquel Jones records a double-double. No surprise she was the focus in Q4 as NY clawed back. Finishes with 26-12.

On a related note, a source confirms that Storm center Li Yueru will also be skipping the Asia Cup from July 13-20 to stay in Seattle all season.
