There are many more nuances that - considering you wanting to appeal to a bigger audience - BG3 hit and VG missed. Of course there are more aspects to a game's success but the entirety of ridiculous Taash-related scenes people compiled is something most people are simply tired of.

The "woke" thing surely is one of the reasons this thing floundered. Having a lesbian couple and being able to put a penis on a hot chick is a different level of "wokeness" than not being abled to even create a hot chick because body customization proportions were super weird.

BG3 is also a great spiritual sucessor to Dragon Age. It's the kind of evolution from these games in terms of reactiveness, depth and possibilities that one would expect from a new DA game. I kept asking myself why I would need a game with so little of what made DA:O so great when I have BG3.
