My grandfather made this charming drawing and gave it to his daughter (my aunt) long ago (1950?) in Dayton, Ohio; he was a cranky but sensitive and witty guy :)

This is a new format for NYT opinion but I think I like it. Not sure if things will change if I do come back, but I can see they want to drive engagement

As a young idiot art student studying in Rome Mel Bochner hired me out of the blue to execute one of his pieces for installation in a museum in Torino, at the Lingotto. He was a generous and great man. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/a...

🦁: “I said no pictures” 😂

I like that he posted a picture of a print-out of the email.

It's cool how simply listing the things that happened in the federal government over the weekend makes you sound clinically insane

Indivisible is urging people to visit their senators' local offices between now and Thursday to demand that they use every tool—including denying a quorum and blocking unanimous consent—to fight the confirmation of Project 2025 architect Russell Vought for head of OMB docs.google.com/document/d/1...

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

This is a photo of Berkeley at twilight, no special place or subject just a subtle quality of light here I find stunning :) #stunday

We will see what happens but the whole “GOP voters will learn their lesson the hard way thing” is cutting against a media environment, including the right wing one, that primes its viewers to blame someone or some thing else

It’s hourly symphony day! If you want to join in the rules are simple: every hour for 24 hours you compose an hour long symphony for 60 piece orchestra and post the sheet music here

I don't have a lot of faith in the Democratic Party but I still expected more opposition to the No More Good Things Act.

very excited to see what happens when you make a deeply compromised addict the leader of the department of defense and subordinate to a madman

The idea that people had gone through years of hurdles and obstacles to qualify for a refugee program meant for the most dire cases and had flights booked—only to have their travel cancelled last minute and cases put on hold by new admin is obscene and makes me hot with shame

me watching the news every day this week

The saddest stuff trump exposes is the lack of conviction leftists have. If only we fully believed the things we say we believe

"I drew up some old blueprints for great Warsaw. [but suddenly] Warsaw is great. In this very moment, covered by smoke, red with fire... she shows an honor and greatness larger than any of my small plans, and she transcends this moment of death, to live forever..." (Stefan Starzynski, Sept 24, 1939)
