Epic Games certainly has issues of their own but their victory over Apple is an unqualified win for developers and consumers. Epic did this at considerable financial cost and real potential harm to their business. It appears Valve are not the only ones in gaming capable of playing the long game.

One of the major reasons that generative AI or LLMs seem so impressive is that they're trained against high quality human created content. As AI-"generated" content becomes ubiquitous the dilution and corruption of training data will lead to it its own recursive AI hellscape.

On 2012 Macbook Pro 10,1 running Linux Elementary OS 8 found that brightness controls weren't working. Manually adjusting brightness under gmux_backlight were reflecting in brightness file but not affecting value in actual_brightness. Fixed with: sudo setpci -v -H1 -s 00:01.00 BRIDGE_CONTROL=0

Installed Linux onto a 2012 Macbook Pro 15. Ultimately ended up in what seems like a much better place than when I tried earlier on a 2017 model. Was touch and go for a while and tried several distros before landing on Ubuntu but had originally planned Fedora.

Apple is ending their E2E encryption for iCloud in the UK ostensibly due to their commitment to never allow back doors as required by UK law. While denying the backdoor is the right answer their solution seems a bit like taking their encryption ball home with them and leaves consumers no better off.

Never got into Castlevania or the sequels on the NES or SNES and now I feel like I'm missing out. Tried playing Symphony of the Night on the Playstation and didn't enjoy the meandering navigation and gameplay although the visuals were gorgeous. Do these games require nostalgia or do they hold up?
