Snyder: "They combine narcissism, incompetence, corruption, sexual incontinence, personal vulnerability, dangerous convictions, and foreign influence as no group before them has done". Snyder also describes such candidates as “not just completely unqualified for this role” but as “anti-qualified“.

Incredible film. A boy who has progressive neuromuscular disease finds friendship and love in World of Warcraft. It's a clever doc as half of the film shows his re-constructed virtual life intercut with interviews of the real people behind the avatars. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_remark...

And some of these people, in their 90s, perhaps not in full possession of their faculties, perhaps too sad or lonely or scared to speak up, will sit in their homes and have no money and starve to death and die. And then the DOGE team can smile and say they were right all along. Fuck those guys.

Sounds of Kyiv this night, while Russia was attacking us with ballistic missiles. Pacifism is privilege (c)

Moments of the Russian deadly attack on Kyiv that killed eight people. The nighttime assault on 24 April involved both missiles and drones targeting multiple districts, mainly residential areas. The age range of injured civilians is from 1.5 to 80 years old.

Generative AI is melting our only planet. Don’t use it. ChatGPT wastes 10x the amount of water as Google. And last year, Google was in talks to purchase 8 nuclear reactors in order to power their own AI. This is not sustainable. Stop using it today. It’s literal Earth Day.

Glad that's not happening anywhere else. For example, Labour would never try to appease Gammons. Oh, wait!

Yes.

As somebody said here about AI sales pitches: "Look you are a moron but subscribe to our AI tool and we'll make you look smart."

Do watch Flow. It's just perfect. It's out in the cinemas and needs a big screen and proper sound. It's a roller-coaster of emotions and that without any dialogue. Night tracks on R3 just played the sound track and that's also just outstanding.

A meme-worthy figure. Find the panel that DOESN'T overlap with another. He et al. 2025 in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules (DOI: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2025.140311). I am sure the authors will confirm that none of this compromises any of the results ofc. pubpeer.com/publications...

Surely must be a parody but it's actually a product. They have a link to "the science". No peer reviewed papers but: "Stress balls are highly effective for managing anxiety by providing a physical outlet for nervous energy." Hmmm. www.cloudnineclothing.ca/pages/the-sc... @neuroskeptic.bsky.social

Kind, decent, and compassionate, Pope Francis was badly out of step with contemporary western culture.

Happy Easter, EVERYONE!! 👇 Seemed. Appropriate. Today. 😎✨

"The American elites of the past 20 years have called their foremost principle freedom, but what they meant was impunity." indeed. Fantastic writeup.

Is it just me but I found the first two episodes of Black Mirror just bland. Both lacked the satirical elements and was just cheap cruelty and revenge. Even the final twists at both ends were not satisfying. Expensively made but far too lazy. "Death to 2020" was a lot more inventive and bite.

Remember when in QAnon they were LARPing about the fictional arrests of people they don't like? Now it's not just role playing but fun&games with real people's lives. There we are.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Blimey, this WSJ article on Elon Musk...
