More in No, Other People: New poll: “America would be better off if more people worked in manufacturing.” • 80% of Americans agree • 20% disagree “I would be better off if I worked in a factory.” • 25% of Americans agree • 73% disagree • 2% currently work in a factory

I keep puzzling over how Rubio thinks it'll bring PROSPERITY to kidnap gay hairdressers based on their tattoos & then pay $20K/year to detain them in a slave camp. We could have spent that $6M on supporting trade with Congo instead, but Rubio has decided torture is better for profits?

The Roberts Court has been very clear. Constitution says that as long as the president doesn't try to forgive any student loan debt or enforce the 14th Amendment, he's good.

The fascists win because everyone's much less informed and less capable of actual thought.

just cannot emphasize enough here that the whole "actually inhaled steroids cure measles" illustrates how none of the antivax stuff is actually about big pharma, it's about virtue signaling to other narcissists about how much cleverer than doctors they are

I’d laugh if this wasn’t so close to the truth

Counterpoint: there is literally no platform that is improved by Richard Hanania's presence

this is the no fucking shit of all no fucking shits and yet barely anyone anywhere is saying it.

Since Musk is already coming for everything else I value (education, truth, the rule of law), sure, why not IP too techcrunch.com/2025/04/13/j...

“We’ll see” as economic policy. What could possibly go wrong

I take no pleasure in being right

DOGE already has cost tax payers money (at the very least $500B/year in IRS revenues, but that's before other huge costs are accounted for). And as I keep noting, Elon's $150B/year estimate is what some of the IGs who got fired were finding--w/o cutting services.

From Fox Business analyst, after Howard Lutnick said this morning on the Sunday shows that the tariff exemptions on tech were only temporary.

jesus wept

As I’ve said, yes, this was their aim all along. That’s why they didn’t just send these people to Gitmo. This is an attempt to find a step beyond Gitmo where the court says, “Well, our hands are tied.” It’s an awful, lawless gambit that must fail, but that is what they want it to be.

One President wildly exceeded his authority by forgiving some student loans; a different President barely scratched the surface of his authority by disappearing anyone he pleases without trial to a foreign gulag. Constitutional law is a serious intellectual enterprise.

every one of these deregulated markets guys is a regulated market guy who hasn’t been punched in the face yet

Number one takeaway from the insane turnout at fight the oligarchy rallies, while chuck schumer cancels his little book tour and gretchen whitmer hides her face, is that there is zero constituency for bipartisanship

They’re using the hostages to try and justify their anti-democratic movement. Not in our name

This is so obviously correct that I'm embarrassed for the firms that caved.

Here are two straightforward and incontrovertible statements of law about Mahmoud Khalil: 1) Khalil is a political prisoner of the United States 2) Khallil is a "prisoner of conscience" as defined by Amnesty International We need to say these things, and the world needs to hear them

the moderate position is “people need to go to prison” for the deportation of people to el salvadoran concentration camps. the radical position is something akin to guillotines on the washington mall

The United States Supreme Court, as packed by the Federalist Society, as supported by the Randy Barretts and Ilya Shapiros and Jonathan Turleys of America, is suited to squabble over what “facilitate” means but not to achieve justice or protect or defend the United States Constitution.

….it’s not that hard to state all this plainly, and it really does matter that people hear someone who purports to represent them say it

Good way to see the current tariffs, as of literally today, is no tariffs on high value add manufactured goods marketed to middle and upper middle classes. Massive tariffs for cheap consumer items which amount to the biggest economic privilege of working class/middle class life in US.

We're in a panic and the problem with a panic is people tend to worry about all the wrong things, as the panic intends.

literally every time another announcement drops about tariff pauses and reversals getyarn.io/yarn-clip/12...

There's probably a tighter historical analogy. But if you're still wondering how the Holocaust happened, remember that Trump just asked for $45 billion to build camps, and we can still stop that from happening.

This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments

This satisfies part (1) of the order, but does not even take a shot at parts (2) and (3). The order:

I’ll take the under

Don’t shut down Social Security offices to open concentration camps shouldn’t be the kind of thing you have to say out loud. But you absolutely have to tell all of you members of Congress this as often as you can stand it. (202) 224-3121 )

The government has filed a declaration in the Abrego Garcia case reiterating its assertions that he is detained by El Salvador on its own “sovereign, domestic authority” and implicitly not subject to recall by the United States. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

i think about this photo a lot

This #OpEd shares the case of a detained 19 year old girl who is her family’s primary caregiver.

Thousands of people have died fighting for freedom and sovereignty and now this...

these days if you tell me you’re into “wellness” i assume you are too stupid to breathe

Trump has broken through partisanship to make everyone unhappy

this is it. if you're regular-people enough to be reading this, trump hates you.
