Important to remind Congress everyday of facts: 1. POTUS immunity to break law, doesn't make it legal. He is still breaking the law. 2. Immunity is only protects against criminal charges in court system. 3. Impeachment is outside this, it's political, and Congress has duty to uphold Constitution.

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

"The crowd again started shouting 'tax Elon,' 'tax the wealthy,” “tax the rich' and 'tax the billionaires.'" The county went 68% for Trump www.lagrandeobserver.com/news/local/r...

folks out there who work for the press, why aren't you HOUNDING Rubio and others?! Confronting him with these stats?! Demanding he explain, justify, or otherwise account for the decision?

“A better way to think about tariffs is as a key tool to achieve the core of Mr. Trump’s economic agenda: He wants to shift the tax burden away from the well-off and toward the poor and middle class — while also consolidating his power.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

what the moment calls for is fighters instead of gormless boobs who should have retired 30 years ago. policy differences can be hashed out later, everyone can agree that Musk and Trump must be stopped and democracy restored

have been wondering about this. as long as you're a temporary govt worker, there's some logic. you don't have to upend your professional life to help on some govt task for a month or two. But now he's a top admin appointee and also CEO of major federal contractor. how is that ok?

Following a loud public outcry about job cuts at the National Parks Service — and a relentless media campaign from outdoors enthusiasts across the country — it looks like the Trump administration has blinked. via @jackdolan.bsky.social

@JudiciaryDems wake up!

Important to start admitting that we’re living under Schrodinger’s constitution—one that is not in effect whenever it constrains Republican powers, but is in effect whenever it can be used to stymie democrats or suppress opposition.

Oh

“Fueling the decline was an unexpected drop in the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index, which slumped to its lowest level in more than a year [and] showed consumers more worried over the path ahead for the economy than economists had expected.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/b...

Breaking — The Social Security Administration is dissolving its Office of Analytics Review and Oversight effective 2pm today, an agency source tells me. In a meeting leadership claimed it was part of government-wide mission to “align missions better” & said it was the first of many changes to come.

Oh fuck, what a grift. J6 terrorists sue a DOJ controlled by Trump; Trump orders DOJ lawyers to settle for an undisclosed amount, both sides agree to an NDA. This can happen dozens, hundreds of times. Just an ingenious way to funnel tax dollars to far-right terrorist groups.

Not a day went by when Biden was POTUS that Trump just sat quietly by. He attacked Biden and Dems everyday and never stopped. Very disappointed in Biden and Obama for not being front and center everyday while Trump blames Zelensky for a war he didn't start and sides with despots to enrich himself.

Never thought we'd see someone wrest away from J. Edgar Hoover the title of Biggest Asshole to Ever Lead the FBI, but looks like we did it!

A king and a dictator said no to Trump and he backed down www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

Trump pardoned the sentence of arguably the single biggest drug trafficker in American history on his second day in office!

same thing with the "liberal press" or "out of control woke regulators" or any of a thousand other bits of authoritarian propaganda intended to prop up the phony ass perpetual victimization complex

This is it 👇 #TeslaTakedown

the Chinese just had the biggest and most successful hack of telecom systems in american history and our top communications regulator is busy threatening CBS with a sham investigation of 69 Minutes

Doesn't know what AI is, doesn't know what duplicitous means, doesn't know what the CDC does.

*bangs head on desk* As someone who spent decades talking about the risks and problems with old electronic voting systems, and who has seen bad systems replaced with much better systems, this is particularly stupid.

This is how the Tea Party started, after all. They just showed up and talked angry shit for a summer & then they got a lot of money from conservative donors, ran candidates for the next Congress and voila, the groundwork laid for takeover of their party. It is far from impossible to do. Hint. Hint.

The governor of Maine is a 77-year-old in the middle of her second term in office and therefore ineligible to run for a third. But King Trump here tries to intimidate her by saying she'll have no future career in politics if she dares to stand up to him. I think she's all good, man.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

That would be, of course, illegal.
