Mental health awareness has grown more entrenched in sports and society, but players said they still sometimes feel more comfortable working through struggles and hopes with the privacy of a journal.

What makes Maine special? The stories, people, and traditions we share—especially during Thanksgiving. Since 1872, the Press Herald has chronicled these moments that matter. Today, you can help preserve local journalism for future generations with a tax-deductible donation. #thankful

Practicing gratitude does *not* mean pretending that everything is ok. Rather, you practice having gratitude while knowing that contrary emotions can simultaneously exist. Neither cancels the other. Life is a “but, also” not an either or. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/comm...

As a law student, American University allowed my newborn to come to class if needed (and provided a place to breastfeed). When I later taught, I often held a student’s newborn (twin!) during class. Students bring their kids on stage when collecting their diploma. All students should be so supported.

I have a weekend off from being a hockey mom. What does one do with a bye week? (Shattuck did not train me for this.) I don’t own weekend wear that isn’t scarlet emblazoned with a dog…

In the wake of a lengthy graduate worker strike, Boston University said it will not accept any new PhD students in a dozen humanities and social sciences programs in the coming academic year. It’s one of the most aggressive cost-cutting moves undertaken by a major Boston-area school.

Social workers (clinical and casework) are leaving the profession in droves. High stress, low pay, horrific treatment. Very sad to see so many talented colleagues leave.

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me. I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

My activism when busy rule of one. 1 small daily act (say something supportive to someone working to better things). 1 larger weekly (catch up on chosen news/determine ways to help). 1 large monthly (volunteer). 1 big yearly (protest/longer volunteer). We can all do this or more.

My self-care rule of one: one tiny thing a day for mental health (for me it’s always slowly washing my face with my fav cream). 1 larger a week (for me, a social event). 1 larger a month (drive out of the city, spend time outside.) 1 largest a year (a trip).

I’ll emphasize to stay in your line. Find one cause/organization and focus your efforts. Spreading thin equals burning out.

I have no idea what I am doing here except trying to escape the evil doers at the other place.
