Last year, Nike made $23 billion. Its founder is worth $35 billion. But Nike pays just dollars a day to the workers who make its products. Today I met Dinar, who sews 222 labels an hour onto Nike products. She is paid $202 a month. This is corporate greed at its worst.

Wells Fargo has a long record of breaking the law—and this past year, was caught violating anti-money laundering, consumer protection, and securities laws. Lifting the asset cap was a grave mistake. The Fed must show its work and turn over Wells Fargo's exam reports to Congress.

Maybe this is old fashion, but the goal of government is not to hasten the deaths of Americans. Republicans should reread the bible – Jesus did exactly the opposite of what they’re doing with their Big Ugly Bill.

For the record, you deserve every cent of every promised Social Security payment after you spend a lifetime earning benefits.

An important piece on the downward spiral when good people stop noticing or caring about what’s happening. @hartmannreport.com

1/ New in the Abrego Garcia case, the Judge has just granted his lawyers' request for permission to file sanctions against the government, which is very unusual.

Nearly 14 MILLION people are estimated to lose their health insurance under Republicans' “big beautiful bill.” That's like everyone in: Wyoming Vermont Alaska North Dakota Montana Maine New Hampshire Hawaii West Virginia Idaho and Nebraska COMBINED.

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost

An utter disgrace.

Elon may be on his way out, but DOGE is still gutting countless government programs and services that millions of Americans rely on. Here are seven ways that DOGE is ruining your life. https://youtu.be/M5LD2CSOzmI?si=tyT84SUJ9sZlnjwo

Ron DeSantis stranded drivers at a bridge with no warning just to stop rainbow colors from appearing on it.

ICE arrested a student on the way to volleyball practice in Milford, detained people waiting at an immigration court in Boston, smashed a car window of the wrong person in New Bedford, and the list goes on. Communities are right to speak out. This isn’t making us safer.

A worker making $50,000 a year contributes to Social Security with 100% of their income. A CEO making $20 million a year contributes to Social Security with less than 1% of their income. Does that sound fair to you?

ICYMI — federal agents cuffed an @RepJerryNadler aide inside his congressional office, claiming they were “conducting a security check” The guardrails are off. More: www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people

I am hearing from folks that the new Missouri Secretary of State, Denny Hoskins, a MAGA Republican, has fired half of the staff in the State Archives today with no warning. These are people that preserve and provide access to state government records…

I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but the U.S. government is not a business and shouldn’t be run like one. It’s a service—for the people.

No words www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/h...

The reality that masked men without proper identification are confronting and arresting and taking away people should be intolerable to anyone who calls themselves American.

SCOOP: The State Department's new reorganization plan includes the opening of an "Office for Remigration," a term popularized by far right extremists and neo-Nazis in Europe. The office will coordinate directly with DHS "to advance the President’s immigration agenda." My report:

This is a BFD. The courts are doing their job. *A job, I might add the GOP is refusing to do in Congress.

Yes, I'm glad we are getting sunshine on these losers. Muskrat, may be all sad because you hate him. But he left the kids in charge of deleting what the American people, you, paid for.

Update: reports today that multiple legal observers were arrested today in New York at two separate immigration courts, for allegedly “obstructing” ICE. Not only that, apparently some immigration courts are barring the public from attending hearings. This mess is escalating fast.

Every time we go online, scan a barcode at checkout, or get an MRI, we use technology made possible by the National Science Foundation.   Today, I'm suing the federal administration to stop them from putting politics over science and cutting the foundation’s programs and funding.

Last night I wrote a post about recent developments at the FBI that seem to be mostly flying beneath the radar screen. This one feels particularly important—they all are these days, but this one especially so. I hope you'll take a moment to read and share it. joycevance.substack.com/p/fbi-top-pr...

Her stats line up with CDC data…

“Why did burning girls matter in Vietnam but not in Gaza?” The 'Napalm Girl' photo shocked the world and helped end the Vietnam War, writes @jehadabusalim.bsky.social for Zeteo, but a child surrounded by flames and other similar images in Gaza can't even provoke a ceasefire. Read/share/subscribe:
