I had a student come up to me and say “thank you for saying ‘Palestine’”. Then she cried. She told me that she a friend that lost over 70 family members. I feel very powerless these days. I don’t have a lot of power but my words meant something to her. I guess that is something.

I think that I understand the critique of (especially cooperate) DEI coming from the left, but I have benefitted greatly from my college’s DEI initiatives, including mandatory trainings. I don’t know how to receive “anti-DEI” as anything other than racism when it’s coming from white people.
