Karoline Leavitt lies more than Kayleigh McEnany who lied more than Stephanie Grisham who lied more than Sarah Sanders who lied more than Sean Spicer who lied constantly.

We were so close to a Middle East peace deal, but then a Hamas militant saw an Instagram post of a campus protest, and they were like, 'Sorry, Bibi, all bets are off'

The case against Abrego Garcia hinges largely on a document from a suspended Maryland cop. Thanks to @gregsargent.bsky.social, we now know why that cop was suspended: "Providing confidential information to a sex worker he was paying in exchange for sexual acts." newrepublic.com/article/1940...

In an alternative universe, Paula Xinis is the US district judge overseeing the Mar-a-Lago case -- instead of Aileen Cannon -- and we're likely spared these four years of drift toward authoritarian rule.

Starting a news org is hard. Keeping it afloat is even harder. A big, well-funded nonprofit in Houston is about to close -- after spending $5.5 million in 2023 and $7.9 million in 2024. (The latter number was $2 million more than it brought in.) Via @sewell.bsky.social www.cjr.org/news/houston...

ICYMI, for the past few days, two Florida newspapers have been all over this bubbling scandal involving DeSantis's wife and a charity she oversees. Now, the GOP-dominated state Legislature is on the trail. www.miamiherald.com/news/politic...

This is the most thorough dissection yet of the the feds' case against Abrego Garcia. It has everything -- from the chilling reasons why he fled El Salvador, to the flimsy evidence filed by a suspended cop that has put him in jeopardy. Via @rparloff.bsky.social www.lawfaremedia.org/article/abre...

When a career DOJ lawyer tells a judge the truth -- in this case, about the illegal rendition of Abrego Garcia -- he gets suspended by the Bondi cabal. And his boss gets suspended too, for a 'failure to supervise' the attorney. Gift link ⤵️ www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Well, it looks like Harvard’s pushback against Trump has fortified a vertebra or two within Columbia’s board of trustees. Here’s a note just sent by the acting university president to the Columbia community. She refers to “overly prescriptive requests” by the Trump gang.

Perhaps someday, these stories that refer to the hundreds of millions, or billions, of dollars in suspended government contracts will specify how universities were using that money — and what the impact of these cutoffs will be on research in medicine and science. That day is not today.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold. Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.

“No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue" -- Harvard (unlike Columbia) gives the middle finger to Trump www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

This story is amazing! There's one source -- quoted in the Guardian, BBC, Newsweek et al -- who runs a sex-toy company called Peaches and Screams and provides quotes on everything from how to walk your dog to how to change your pillow. Via @robwaugh.bsky.social pressgazette.co.uk/publishers/d...

The Palin vs NY Times defamation suit goes into reruns today with a new trial in Manhattan. The editorial that's the focus of the suit ran in 2017. I looked into thousands of pages of depositions etc in 2020 to write this piece. And here we are in 2025, doing it again www.cjr.org/opinion/how-...
