The nytimes actually has a good op-ed

Definitely not 🤪

Y’all @omoidayy.bsky.social is now on BlueSky! All my R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and all around global music fix that will get you feeling something is HERE #music

I’ve been reading “The Untethered Soul” and one of the chapters focuses on our inner roommate. That voice in our minds that sounds like us and narrates life for us. But what if life is not meant to be narrated and instead enjoyed? Maybe we focus so much on the narration we don’t live the moment.

It’s snowing here in Chicago. I tried to take my dog for a walk and as soon as went got outside, she saw the snow, looked at it and ran right back in and straight under the covers. She non-verbally said “not today”. Same, Nina. Same.

Finalmente! 🇧🇷 Isso que deveria acontecer nos Estados Unidos também. Finally! This is what should’ve happened in the United States too.

I heard this quote today and I’m enamored. “You can cut all of the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming.” - Pablo Neruda

daily reminder to support your local library, even if that’s just by checking out ebooks! 📚

We do not sell out trans people. There is no liberation without trans liberation. (This is also why I ended my NYT subscription years ago.) Bye Pod Save, leaving you on the wrong side of history.

Was there today for the H.R. 9495 vote (bill that would have allowed labeling nonprofits as terrorist supporting organizations). Voted no, of course - but I do want to report that the activism DID work and persuaded members. I thought it’d be a lonely NO vote, which we take often. It wasn’t.

What’s your favorite movie of all time? I’m looking for recommendations!

Reading this right now and it is a MASTERPIECE. I’m not done with the book yet and it is already my favorite dystopian novel.

Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.

Reading “Parable of the Sower” for the first time. Octavia Butler has not only accurately predicted much of life today but the way her writing sucks you in is insaneeeeeeeee. I can’t put the book down (besides to skeet this.. we’re calling it skeet right?).

Look what I found at the new Chicago Barnes and Nobles in Wicker Park 👀 @earthtokb.bsky.social

“In total, undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion, or roughly $9,000 per person, in taxes in 2022, the report shows. While their incomes are usually lower, they’re less likely to claim refunds or earn tax-preferred income”

We live in a Veep world

there is nothing better than recommending your favorite book to someone and them coming back and telling you they loved it. absolute cocaine of a feeling. put that shit in my body immediately

Serrano is the people’s champion. Taylor did not deserve that win. #katietaylor #miketyson #jakepaul

A servant?

“Hold up, I have to take a picture for my Bluesky!” I’m working hard to keep all 8 of you entertained

Kbbq and boba tea 😭

Watching this Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson match feeling like I’m back in the early 2000s when I had to move my TV antennas around to try to watch my shows. This is the worst streaming ever 😂😭

If anyone’s looking for alternatives to GoodReads, I highly recommend StoryGraph. It’s owned by a black woman, and the platform is so much more accessible and easy to use.

A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive. This is what oligarchy looks like.

B.T.Washington is absolutely correct here! Shocking the state of #politics & majority POV.

Why is it to hard to read one book at a time? I feel like I constantly need to have 3 books on rotation and can never just finish one on its own.

she started a haka to tear up their proposed changes to the indigenous treaties bill and the whole thing got pushed out what a legend
