PB on toast. Breakfast at #Mitchelstown's Town Coffee Co with Novak's Bakery toast + Harry's Nut Butter (and real butter because, butter), an impeccable #flatwhite and a win at the brilliant pre-order library books lottery. #lovemylibrary #Ireland

The incredible Ian Wilson, man of so many talents and always excellent shorts!

Creatives! It's the last day to appeal the upcoming AI legislation. The website is here: ipoconsultations.citizenspace.com/ipo/consulta... and the key bit is the section below. TICK OPTION 1. Strengthen copyright! Option 3 - which the government prefer - is no good for us.

"At Pellicle we take the use of generative AI very seriously, and consider its use in the generation of copy or images to be theft... Contributors found in breach of these rules will also forfeit the opportunity to work with Pellicle again." www.pelliclemag.com/pitching

Mondays. Not always an easy day to find food on the highways and byways, but the lovely crew in The Blackberry café in #Thomastown will have you sat, fed and caffeinated almost before you realise just how lucky you are to pop in on that one moment when a table was free. #CoKilkenny

Lemon drizzle cake from #TheIrishBakery by Cherie Denham and Kitty Corrigan (Montgomery Press, £27) With extra lemon icing, because the baker - aka the Small Girl - decided that there's no such thing as too much lemon. Beautiful texture, flavour and, according to SG, an easy to follow recipe.

Daffodils to gladden the heart. Picked in bud at the weekend and now, at this stage of the week, flowering in their full glory. #irishdaffodils #springflowers #Ireland

Genius.

I have been known to buy dresses just for the pockets. Christmas dress (and sparkles) from local StVdeP charity shop. It has with deliciously deep pockets. #dresseswithpockets

Yes.

Coffee time. Always superb #flatwhites at O'Neill Coffee . Plus a dense, rich spiced carrot cake with delicious cream cheese squiggle. Also, always good reading: Jim Hoffman's brilliant #HowtoMaketheBestCoffeeatHome.

The Hodmedods GF mix, a mixture of UK-grown oat groats and flakes, split fava beans, carlin beans, all kinds of peas and lentils, makes an incredible soup. An overnight soak, some aromatics braised in olive oil, a spoonful of harissa & some diced homemade preserved lemon: the best lunchtime bowlful.

First listen - all 30 hours of it! - to an oft-read and much-loved book from my teens. Slightly different perspective all these years later, though... #JillyCooper

This. Libraries are incredible! Also, as an author, the Public Lending Right means that I get a (very!) small payment every time my book is borrowed from a library.

Last night's cheesy Valentine's dinner.

Thanks to Sarah Browne of Oysome for talking to me about Irish oysters for #ValentinesDay. WIth a nod to other local aphrodisiacs: chocolate (Butlers Chocolates, Koko Kinsale, Bon Chocolatiers, Hazel Mountain Chocolate), caviar (Goatsbridge Trout) & Irish honey www.irishexaminer.com/food/arid-41...

I was privileged to attend one of these ceremonies a couple of years ago when the Kiwi became an Irish citizen. It was a wonderful - and moving - celebration of how diversity can enrich a country. Congratulations to our new citizens! www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

If it's (almost) #ValentinesDay, it's time to visit Praline Pastry & Chocolate. After hearing that people were almost coming to blows over the heart-shaped treats at the #Mitchelstown café, I had to pop in & snaffle the last two red velvet cupcakes. (They'll be stocked up again for tomorrow 😉)

Having the Small Girl learning home economics is fun - especially when she brings freshly baked soda bread home from school, tucked up in tinfoil and still warm from the oven - and also funny, when she tells me that (according to her teacher) I'm eating too much butter on said bread.
