There is still time to add your voice and protect creative industries.

The Government is considering allowing AI companies to freely use your works, unless you opt-out. This is unfair and unworkable. Now is your chance to tell them what you think! Submit a response to their AI consultation using the guidance below. www.alcs.co.uk/news/your-ri...

The UK government are attempting to force a fundamental change to copyright law with a hamfisted, deeply biased, incredibly long consultation that takes mass-scraping and opt-outs as a given. This is an excellent guide to completing it. The deadline is midnight tonight - please complete if you can.

Come join us at Waterstones Argyll street on the 28th of January! 🎉

Didn't expect to spend my Friday night knitting via head torch. It's one way to spend the time waiting out a power cut.

My late 30s strikes again in the form of I shifted my weight on the couch and managed to catch a nerve in my left shoulder and now the wonders of turning my head left have been lost to me.

Mogget is very appreciative of his heat pad and blanket. I wish I could be as toasty warm!

I can now make pistachio lattes at home. I should not have been given this power. Now I need to actually learn some latte art skills.

Very much agree. My community felt like it was split in two. The reading/book blogging community has moved to threads as most also had bookstagrams so it made sense, while my writer friends moved here. At first I was sad but now I enjoy the duality of the conversations between the two platforms.

It's @edinburghsff.com Write-in day today! Despite my mind bouncing with ideas from book 2 of my urban fantasy to cosy sci-fi vibes, hopefully I can get many words down on the page!

Congratulations to all of them, and a wonderfully supportive community! I am very much looking forward to reading all of these and it's so nice to see the contents of my @edinburghsff.com shelf grow larger and larger!

Woke up at 3am to frantically scribble down book ideas Hesitantly return to it at 11am and they actually make sense. My ghost filled, witchy Edinburgh book now has plot for book 2!

New video! Sometimes you have to go and stop your ex from starting a ritual that ends the world. Sometimes they are also Draculae. We've all been there.

I did the thing, and it was surprisingly difficult. In no particular order.

I am part of the blog tour for @scalzi.com 's Starter Villain which is out in the UK tomorrow. Honestly I couldn't put it down or stop giggling from page to page. Plus it has sentient computer literate cats! You can find my spoiler free review here ... shorturl.at/bKLQ6

74,655 words, 28 chapters and I am finished, the first draft of my ghost filled Edinburgh based urban fantasy. It needs alot of tidying, redrafting and reshaping but for now draft 1 has a beginning, middle and end to start molding into something beautiful.

Really enjoyed the podcast this week, all about Calum's time with Baldurs Gate 3. https://www.gameenginestart.com/podcast/game-engine-start-podcast-an-eloquent-ogre

Unexpected excitement for my Sunday morning writing session. Completely forgot this was happening

Yes. I think we would enjoy each other's company. As long as I was willing to only hang out at her shop.

Saturday morning writing sprints with some of the @edinburghsff.bsky.social crew I had been struggling to get back to a writing schedule, but this week I started editing chapters after work saving new words for the weekend. I am really happy with the progress I made this week.

First night at the edfringe - Trashfuture podcast. A great start to the month!

Time to figure out how this all works!
