”I lost all but a few loyal friends, my devoted family, and all but lost my newspaper but thank god I retained the pearl of great price—my self respect.” Here’s @dansinker.com with a reminder that fascism always falls: dansinker.com/posts/2025-0... Needed to read this tonight; maybe you did too.

“Local news throughout America is filled with stories about the remarkable work these people were doing for our country and the horrible way they’ve been treated by Musk and Trump.” jenniferschulze.substack.com/p/local-news...

been thinking a lot about this quote lately “There must have been a moment, at the beginning, where we could have said -- no. But somehow we missed it.” ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

It’s worth remembering Trump lost the over 65 vote.

"The vocal crowd rose to its feet repeatedly during a one-hour town hall ... [Warren] said, her voice growing hoarse. “We do not want an America that says a handful of rich folks are better than everyone else. We want an America that works for all of us, and we are willing to fight for it.”

Have spent most of today writing a series of letters to people I've held dear who have, regrettably, supported Trump. I'm not ignoring or lying about the dissonance anymore. I'm not being unreasonable or hysterical about what's happening. It's time to take a stand.

Keep. The. Pressure. Up. No peace and quiet for them.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Editor Commentary: Millions of Americans from doctors to farmers to veterans to children with special needs are living under threat. JD Vance once said, “Trump makes people I care about afraid.” Now he’s gleefully participating in their torment. It's sick.

While Republicans start their work tonight on a bill to cut your Social Security and Medicare benefits, Democrats are working to make your life better, safer, and more affordable. Here are 10 of the amendments I filed to the Republican budget bill 🧵

And they said I was being hysterical. He really won't do all of that. youtu.be/CvQhTbCY4xc?...

If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

School play gets canceled for "inappropriate content". In response students write [REDACTED], their own anti-censorship play skewering the school district, sells out performances, and ultimately takes gold at the Lenaea High School Theatre Festival. www.kqed.org/arts/1397192...

Donald Trump signed a bunch of executive orders rolling back abortion protections in the middle of the night, hoping that no one would notice. This is — and always has been — about controlling women’s bodies. I’m fighting back.

"Parents: If you want to know what your kids are reading, a better and more rewarding way to find out is to talk to them."

My feed should be flooded with the stories of laid off federal workers.

Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

You know what I like? A lot? When someone explains to me, in great detail, the history of my archive's organization and every single detail is incorrect. Wrong. Untrue. Every single thing.

It’s so sad to see the libs try so hard to discredit this administration. Tell me how the president looks “powerless” here??? The president looks downright giddy! It’s the old orange guy at the desk who looks confused, frail and powerless. Try again wokesters.

So if we did like a TikTok channel where people read the Constitution aloud would people watch? Because it's pretty clear that very few people in this country, especially the people in the White House and Congress, have any idea what's in there (or are willfully pretending they have no idea).

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

CORRUPTION: Musk is abusing his position to block investigations into his own corporations⬇️

Exactly.

We examined false and misleading claims about the mass deportation raids in Colorado - from ICE's inaccurate description of a detainee's criminal history to Rep Gabe Evans (R-CO) dubiously claiming one raid netted nearly 50 Tren de Aragua members. #copolitics www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxh9...

There's been an awful lot of misinformed bleating about the SB halftime show. If you want to really understand what about it was so important, and aggravating to a certain part of the audience, read this fantastic piece by Karen Attiah. This is when art and music are most vital.

Ah, yes — late Saturday night EST, when government agencies notoriously issue all-staff directives.

Chicago author Eve Ewing invites readers to critically think about the origins of the American education system in her new book. “I think that it’s overwhelming if we think that it’s one person’s job to overthrow an entire system. The system wasn’t built by one person” thetriibe.com/2025/02/eve-...

They’ve called armed federal officers to the scene. We aren’t dangerous. We are here to represent our people. To defend public education. This is an authoritarian regime. You cannot block members of Congress from entering the Department of Education.

Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt. Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

NEW — Chicago native Eve L. Ewing is dropping her new book, ‘Original Sins: The (Mis)education of Black and Native Children and the Construction of American Racism.’ “The ways that we have been treated are really at the basis of the origins of the American project.” thetriibe.com/2025/02/eve-...
