For the evening crowd - I forgot to mention: some 30-odd years after his tour, Dad had surgery to cut (yet more) shrapnel out of his back and legs. This was just before 9/11; he used to set off metal detectors in airports - and he was very, very glad that he had it removed when he did.

We had a wonderful Battle of Britain reenactment over the airport today! Absolutely incredible manoeuvres. Loops, dive bombs, inversions - the pilots showed amazing skills. Wasn't so pleasant for the passengers on the British Airways and Lufthansa 737s that took part though.
