No Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast this week. I've got a really good excuse though. Power company is upgrading the local substation, so 600+ houses will have no power for most of tomorrow.

It has now been nearly two weeks since I ate chocolate, crisps, chips, Greggs pastries, red meat and many other lovely foods. I feel better for it, not in pain like I was before (Gallstones it seems!) and a bit healthier. :)

Today on Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast at 2pm ET / 6pm GMT (Note the time change!) I'll be showing you how I installed Windows 11 on a Raspberry Pi 5 using Botspot Virtual Machine. This is a pre-recorded show to accompany the Tom's Hardware tutorial. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lqy...

Just seven days to go for SPOKE (a touch sensitive microcontroller) which I've backed. Looks like a really good RP2040 ( #RaspberryPi Pico chip) based board www.kickstarter.com/projects/tom...

I'm back after a couple of days being unwell. Dr has sent me for some tests, but nothing to fear, no life threatening issues, just a few lifestyle changes to make.

No Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast today because I am unwell.

All gone! :)

Last chance before I recycle them.

We had an issue with the YouTube stream, but Facebook worked well. Full show here www.facebook.com/tomshardware...

In case you missed it.

This week on Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast (2/25 2pm ET / 7pm GMT) we are joined by our guest Abe Haskins, who has used a Pimoroni PicoVision to build their ideal mini computer. https://buff.ly/4krmAPJ

It looks like we'll be seeing a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 laptop sometime in 2025. The Upton One, from Argon40 uses the CM5, has NVMe storage & is "Launching Soon" on Kickstarter. No idea on the price or release date. But here are the key features. https://buff.ly/4bddbqH

To get some work done, I have to tether to my 5G phone, as Virign Media are having issues. Started on Friday, cost me lots of time.

Any UK based Star Trek fans/cosplayers need 11 Voyager / TNG / late DS9 commbadges? Free to a good home. I print them to test filaments before doing big jobs.

Messing around with #nodered on a spare laptop and I can trigger vlc to play an audio file using an HTTP endpoint (an URL). This could be fun :D

I'm happy to announce that #CamJam has a talk from Raspberry Pi’s Luke Wren, Principal ASIC Engineer. His talk is about the RP2350 microcontrollers design. Luke is also the designer of the Hazard 3 RISC-V cores on the RP2350. Tickets are available here. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1243972107...

I made a quick tour video of my office / workshop to celebrate two years of working in there. youtu.be/500kvRA-dlw?...

Tomorrow at 2pm ET / 7pm GMT we have a pre-recorded episode of Tom's Hardware: The Pi Cast. This week I've got some new Pineboards Modulo Compute Module 5 and 4 carrier boards to talk about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNQA-IP-m0Q

The next episode of Tom's Hardware: The Pi Cast will be on Febraury 18 at 2pm ET / 7pm GMT.

On Tom's Hardware: The Pi Cast Feb 4 2pm ET / 7pm GMT we have Raspberry Pi CTO Gordon Hollingworth on the show to talk about software engineering for the Raspberry Pi. Join us live! https://youtu.be/UxO4qiw9kIw

By the way, if you solder somewhat regularly, and you DON'T have a bevel/"hoof" tip in your collection, I highly recommend it! It makes soldering SO much easier. I see a lot of people use fine needle tips, or blunt round tips. But you can't beat beveled for balancing control + heat transfer IMO.

On Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast tomorow at 2pm ET / 7pm GMT, I'll be taking a look at the new Argon40 case for the Raspberry Pi 5 and saying that the old cases look like props from "The Expanse" far too many times. This is a pre-recorded show, https://buff.ly/4hvBgLk

No episode of Tom's Hardware The Pi Cast this week. I've got some camera issues that I am unable to resolve.

Star Trek Voyager (1995) is now as old as the pilot episode of Star Trek (1965) was when Star Trek Voyager came out.

Live in an hour!

Join us tomorrow!
