There are over forty different books, about all aspects of life in the Black Country, on sale in our online bookshop. Whatever aspect of our history interests you, you’ll find something in the bookshop that’ll be right up your street. Nip over to https://buff.ly/42yaFJk and treat yourself!

We're counting down the days to the next Yes We Cant (that's "cant" as in blather, natter, chat, talk nonsense – not "can't") It'll be on Zoom, this Sunday, with joint headliners @markconnors.bsky.social and @gillcresearch.bsky.social Get in touch if you'd like to join our audience! 😊

I love days like these. A morning spent working in the garden, afternoon watching 6N rugby with a Guinness or three. #WALvIRE ☘️☘️☘️

Can 100% relate.

A week on Sunday, @pandemonialists.bsky.social are back with a great evening of poetry. 😊

β€œIf you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

A morning spent doing a gig with @emmapurshouse.bsky.social on the subject "The Black Country – Is That Somewhere Near Leeds?" Thanks, Stourport. That was lovely. 😊

Black Country Society talk at Bilston Town Hall β€˜A Cause of Immense Benefit’ – Episodes from Black Country Canal History - by Phil Clayton Wednesday 26th February 2025 – 7.30pm (Free for member and Β£5 non-members). Details at https://buff.ly/3PKY6ml

If you've been enjoying my poems here, can I point you to my latest collection? 'snapshots from the fall of home' is available from @ignitebooks.bsky.social Thanks. πŸ™ ignitebooks.co.uk/product/snap...

Cheap as chips! And just as tasty. 😊

Have a poem.

I've a new post on Substack. Have a gander, if you've five minutes and some spare inclination. substack.com/@stevepottin...

On Tuesday evening, PASTA returns to Wolverhampton's Arena Theatre. It's free, friendly, and absolutely brilliant. @emmapurshouse.bsky.social and @bigstevepoet.bsky.social will be there to welcome everyone, so bring us your best poems, the new poems you want to try out, your poems about festival. 😊

Time to evict AirBnB from your life, if you have't already.

Home, after a weekend of a tour of the north, featuring a premier of my new show in Morecambe, a poetry gig (and plenty of book sales) in Hexham, a splendid evening in Hexham's hostelries, and a trip home today with a detour to see Hadrian's Wall, and a stopover in the sunshine at Morecambe Bay. 😎

It's always a joy to perform at a well run, packed out poetry event, and yesterday's Words on the Wall in Hexham was exactly that. Huge thanks to @joewilliamswriter.bsky.social for inviting myself and @emmapurshouse.bsky.social up to read. We had a blast! 😊

Seconded. 😊

If you're in Hexham this afternoon, @emmapurshouse.bsky.social will be performing a set of her poems at Words on the Wall, at the Coach & Horses on Priestpopple (strong contender for Best Street Name Ever). 2.30pm doors, 3pm start. I'll be doing a set, too. But don't let that put you off. πŸ˜‰

Last night in Morecambe I steered my new show 'Sweat & Mugs & RocknRoll' through its first ever public performance. It's all about how I fell into life in the music industry and never quite got it together to fall back out again, and I'm delighted to say it works! 😎

Worrye not about 'being productive,' for thou art not a product. Thou art a star daunsinge yn a hopeful skye. A signal blinking across centuryes and worldes. Thou art a song performid just once and perfectlye.

Thanks to everyone who’s already visited our relaunched online bookshop, and taken advantage of the special low prices on many of our titles. We’ve a range of great books with something for everyone. Head over to https://buff.ly/42yaFJk and fill yer boots!

If you're around beg, steal and borrow to get along.

Sunshine at last! I’d almost forgotten what it was like to cast a shadow… #MoraleBooster

Tomorrow, a day spent rehearsing my brand-new Fringe show about a life (mis)spent in the music industry before it has its first outing on Friday. Hope you're ready for this, Morecambe! (Hope I'm ready for it, too)

It's miserable out there, so why not spend some of today crafting a piece for the first half of the PASTA open-mic at Wolverhampton's Arena Theatre on Feb 18th? One of the friendliest open-mic nights around. 😊

Labour's migrant-bashing isn't just wrong. It's a proven politically disastrous strategy which succeeds only in fuelling the radical right. New column πŸ‘‡ www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I've a new post up on my Substack. And now I'm off to cook tea. 😊 open.substack.com/pub/stevepot...

Please sign this if you can. It seems that most of the heritage museums in Walsall have disappeared over the years, it'd be such a shame to lose this building which is the perfect location for the Leather Museum.

Please, have a read.

Labour's disgusting deportation stunt this week wasn't just morally bankrupt, it was politically stupid. Politicians need to find the backbone to be honest about the real source of our problems: the wealthy elite draining money from our communities metro.co.uk/2025/02/11/l...

One week today, PASTA is back at Wolverhampton's Arena Theatre. An open-mic event with a themed first half. The theme this time? Festival. See you there!
