The album, titled ‘Is This What We Want?’, objects the UK government’s proposal to change a copyright law that would allow AI developers to use artist’s work to help improve their own models

Today, from midnight to midnight Pacific Time, we’re donating 100% of our proceeds to support artists impacted by the California Wildfires. Here's a list of releases that are also donating to the cause. daily.bandcamp.com/features/a-l...

I love the idea of representing space and place in music and audio. (That might have something to do with having two geography degrees but even so.)

Searching "How to mix or equalize bagpipes" doesn't come up with any hits. I guess I found my niche.

People who make fair use of copyrighted works always select among various alternatives, for both aesthetic and practical reasons. They shouldn’t be penalized in court for their choices.

“as streaming services push music further into the background, and normalize anonymous, low-cost playlist filler—the relationship between listener and artist might be severed completely.”

Hot take: Tenor guitars should be the most common guitar. All-fifths fretted instruments--like mandolin, tenor guitar, tenor banj--should be more common than fourth-ish tuned guitars, in general. Beginners to stringed instruments should start with an all-fifths tuned instruments.

It turns out that moving a problem around doesn’t solve it. Until Seattle delivers the housing and behavioral healthcare people need, we will continue to have high levels of suffering and disorder. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

This track "America Is Waiting" seems very apropos for today's national vibe. It's also another influence on my upcoming album. David Byrne and Brian Eno's groundbreaking album "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" combined music samples, drum machine rhythms, found sound spoken word, and Byrne's guitar.

Amen. "we [must] move from viewing DSPs as the logical end point for campaigns, and instead establish how to move them back to almost a place of discovery rather than full consumption. There has to be better ways for fans to feel connected to artists."

In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising. I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping. If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.

"I wanna know everyone’s taste too—I just think it’s worth taking a few minutes to jot down an unranked list in the Notes app, or gather up album covers and write a thoughtful IG caption, or share pictures of the records you’ve bought and loved this year, or hell, even make your own playlist."

From @matthewstoller.bsky.social "none of us should want to live in a country where assassination [is] political expression. It’s hard to see democracy surviving if elected leaders and corporate leaders feel they might be shot... that’s why we have to actually get our laws working again. ..."

One of the many reasons I left academia. And definitely there is little correlation between good touters and good researchers. Maybe a slightly negative correlation on average.

Good news: Today is Bandcamp Friday. daily.bandcamp.com/features/ban...

Before releasing my album, I thought I'd start posting the music of artists influencing my current musical aesthetic. I'll start with Leafcutter John. I found his music searching for artists who incorporate field recordings. This gorgeous album weaves coastal field recordings with modular synth.

So, it's #BandcampFriday and with all the hoohah about the absolute ridiculousness of Spotify's economic offering, today is a good day to discover the joy of supporting independent musicians in tangible, impactful ways... album sales are still very much a thing, many artists are still making CDs...

Celebrate Spotify Wrapped by buying music on Bandcamp Friday (tomorrow) from artists you listened to the past year.

Seems ripe for SoDo and maybe some UW parking lots.

I just discovered @thelotradio.com and oh my. Seattle needs a live-streaming DJ booth in a shipping container on a vacant lot to highlight local music, musicians and DJs. And if that already exists here, let me know. If it doesn't, let's do it. Here's Fourt Tet's set. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cd5...

Hi, this is a gentle promo to say that my 2023 release, Ghosts of Christmas Past - Music from Vintage Toys, has a special Christmas offer… Use code ‘xmas’ to get 50% off the digital copy price (only £2 UKP) and this also helps a donation to charity! xx mortalitytables.bandcamp.com/album/ghosts...

Not gonna lie, seeing friends proudly sharing their Spotify Wrapped is kinda like going into my chicken's coop with a 20 piece of McNuggets.

I'm excited to be ready to mix the first tune of my first release and album in... 13 years. This music is gonna be a wee bit (i.e., a lot ...like, a lot) different than the past.
