I missed this from the White House's original statement on banning transgender troops. The unmitigated gall it takes for a man whose entire life has been a notorious, out-loud parade of his own appetites to talk about anyone else not being "truthful, honorable, and disciplined."

Perhaps an unpopular take, but oh well: There needs to be room for uncomfortable, traumatic, and triggering stories, and we need to be trained to wrestle with them rather than demand they be stuffed in a safe and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. (1)

Just saw a banner ad for Safelite in which they refer to themselves as “your premiere glass replacement.” It’s an ad during a football match. A PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL MATCH. Spellcheck alone will not save you.

Today in Pulitzer contenders: I really appreciate the composition here, with one portrait in particular recessed and cloaked in shadow.

We truly are living under the fickle mercies of a cabal of paste-eating preschoolers.

Not like I'm actually surprised anymore by the things the cult believes, but it does befuddle me that they think a man who bought multiple solid gold toilets should deploy a man with literally the Guinness World Record for losing money to "cut wasteful spending."

So: One of the DOGE goons is revealed to be an odious racist, another is revealed to have committed corporate espionage at a cybersecurity firm, it's like some kind of reverse TRAITORS show where you have to guess which one of them ISN'T a clear and present danger to the nation.

I agree with the general idea of being kind to the Buyers Remorse crowd as they work their way back from the void of MAGA cultism. Requiring they take abuse from those of us who knew better is something that might feed my ego but is limited in developing a potential ally. But there's a caveat.

“We demand access to your secure government servers in the name of efficiency!”

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...but only kinda sorta, if I'm feeling like it that day, and unless whoever's doing it is obscenely wealthy."

Hey wait. DEI is the Latin word for God. Are they actually blaming God for everything that goes wrong? Because that's not especially controversial. Folks, I got all of this wrong. My bad.

“Very well! We will stop threatening the thing we threatened as long as you do the thing you’re already doing!” This is Duck Soup politicking. And I’d still rather be led by Rufus T. Firefly.

Former senior #USAID, @agawande.bsky.social tells FOX News on purge: "It’s insane" “A gift to our enemies" "Ebola outbreak...Bird flu has broken out in 49 countries. Our efforts to contain them have all been shut down.” "USAID was funding the treatment for 20 million people with HIV worldwide"

Between what’s happening at the FBI right now and what happened to the Bills last week, we must assume that the Cigarette Smoking Man is still alive.

I feel like the last 72 hours are the sort of thing M used to assign 007 to handle.

When I hear people talk about how we just need to "pick better Democratic candidates next time" I honestly don't understand what that means in such a polarized and disinformation-rampant environment.

Today I’m thinking a lot about this quote from Fiona Apple, who has often said things that cut right to the heart of my own values: “Tact is the art of saying nothing when there’s nothing to say.”

People opposed to diversity principles, are at their core, lazy cowards. They need everyone around them to look and sound exactly like them because it's too hard to adapt their behaviors and understanding to anything else, and they're too afraid they might be punished for their ignorance.

If I told you that just 20 years ago a Republican Senator lost his position as Minority Leader because he praised the segregationist policies of Strom Thurmond out loud and the Republican administration pressured his removal, you'd think I had suffered a serious head trauma. BUT IT'S TRUE.

There should be one reporter at every press briefing whose job is to ask the question "Excuse me, but are you out of your fucking mind?"

If you have students who are trans no you don’t. If you have students of color who may be affected by ICE no you don’t. If anyone asks you gender or racial the makeup of your class you don’t have to tell them. Protect your class and protect your students by not complying in advance. They trust you.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Pleased to discover that ResistBot is still up and running. Sending my reps a letter a day is probably going to be the easiest way to lower my blood pressure.

The most disgusting thing about calling this EO a way to protect children from mutilation is that this policy is going to lead to kids harming themselves. And you can go to one of these monsters and say: “These are children dying because of you.” And the ones who don’t run away will say “Good.”

Anytime a member of this administration says “these people are criminals” someone in the room should be automatically shouting back “like the president?” He’s a convicted felon. Say that at every opportunity.

Today Trump pretended to turn on the water in California and then actually turned off the funding for the federal programs that save people’s lives.

My 7th grader came home yesterday excited for having passed his test on the Constitution after several focused study sessions. I’m both proud of him and upset that he’s being tested on a document nobody in the Republican Congress or administration considers important.

Decided to watch THE IMITATION GAME tonight, because apparently I needed to watch a story of Nazis being defeated by people who have been labeled inferior for stupid societal reasons.

Whoever snapped this photo deserves some kind of special Pulitzer.
