Apple caves to UK government Snooper’s Charter by reducing data security for customers in the UK. Seems kind of pointless as anyone can apply pre-internet encryption before uploading data archives to the cloud. The bad guys surely do this already, so they’ll have to ban encryption tools next 🤔

A young Hen Harrier, Red, has disappeared in suspicious circumstances. Police found no trace of the bird. This latest incident follows a clear pattern of Hen Harriers disappearing on driven grouse moors: it's time to license driven grouse shooting. More: community.rspb.org.uk/ourwork/b/in...

I finally got round to a visit to RSPB Otmoor Oxfordshire recently. It was great to see this Barn Owl

Listen to a brief update on the latest developments - there's good news and bad news - in the murky world of neonicotinoids, sugar beet, derogations, flea treatments etc. youtu.be/MDfg75AyyDQ

Great song called Satellite on the new album by Mary Chapin Carpenter & Co about the sad spacecraft ICE/ISEE-3 aka International Cometary Explorer that must be still out there somewhere contact lost, possibly in safe mode en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna...

Went out for a walk before dusk to look for a Barn Owl and saw a Hen Harrier fly over! #OwlProwlWalk

The Orion Nebula Messier 42 taken on a recent clear night 3rd January 2025 with the OM System OM-1 and 300mm f4 lens + MC-14 teleconverter. High Res shot using HHHR mode on a tripod, exposure 0.8s f5.6 ISO 16000 at 420mm. One of my favourite winter targets! #astrophotography #astronomy

Binge watching Slow Horses Season 4 on AppleTV+ as it seems to be free to view all this weekend. I can finish my book later 😀 #AppleTV

Distant view of a Short Eared Owl on our walk at Dunwich Heath today 29.12.2024. Great to see one, I'll take it as a substitute for Dartford Warblers which were heard but not seen! @nationaltrusteast.bsky.social

Very happy to see this Water Rail on my birthday last week on a visit to WWT Slimbridge Gloucestershire. On of my favourite birds 😍 #OMSystem #BigWhiteLens

It was well worth a trip to WWT Slimbridge Gloucestershire to see a duck in a bucket today 😍 @wwtworldwide.bsky.social

I have enjoyed watching the Bank Voles at our local nature reserve recently, a little bit of bird food placed in strategic locations will encourage them to appear for photographs #mammals #OMSystem

It’s like an oasis. When we had a guided walk around Strawberry Hill this year on a field trip arranged by the Bedfordshire Bird Club I counted maybe at least 10 Nightingales singing #rewilding #nature

Some long exposure hand held photos from a walk around the winter illuminations at the National Trust Wimpole Estate Cambridgeshire. OM System OM-1 with 8-25mm f4 pro lens #photography

If you need something to put you off buying a new M4 Apple iMac this article is worth a read. If I get a new Mac it will likely be an M4 Mac Mini for the reasons listed www.theverge.com/24303351/app...

The Bank Voles were very active eating some bird food I put on the ground at our local nature reserve in the cold weather recently

Good morning! Our petition petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70... has just passed 10,000 signatures so Defra must respond. Thank you to 9,999 others who have signed it! But we shouldn't stop there - please share and promote so that we reach 100,000 signatures and get a parliamentary debate.

Some rainy afternoon musings on whether it makes sense to talk about "garden rewilding". youtu.be/JW0goeznrH4

I recorded this Starling Murmuration at WWT Welney Norfolk last Friday after the 3:30pm swan feed and talk. OM System OM-1 Mk ii and 150-400mm lens at 150mm, a 3 minute video clip on YouTube youtu.be/1kgDWsEnVEs?...

A 5 mile walk around our local RSPB HQ reserve at The Lodge Sandy yesterday. Autumn colours in the trees, little wind and the turbine hardly moved. Could have heard Dartford Warblers on the heath if there were any, maybe one day. Nice cafe lunch, worth spending some £s there to support the RSPB

I asked ChatGPT to modify a photo to show where the sun will set tonight - "I’ve marked the approximate location where the sun will set in the image. It’s positioned slightly southwest, near the horizon, on the right side of the scene. You can see the soft glow representing the sunset direction"..

I was reminded I have this account on here. Some aurora photos from Wrestlingworth Bedfordshire night of 10/11/2024. The one from the garden was naked eye visible but I didn't make it to the church in time for the other one - aurora only visible on the camera LCD. OM-1 Mk II + 8mm f1.8 FishEye
