Some find the experience of viewing Copenhagen's den lille havfrue (Little Mermaid) to be anti-climactic. I appreciated the statue in a symbolic context re the Danish city's many, many spots that enable a summertime dip on both sides of its extensive, car-free waterfront.

The US flag at half mast to honor President Carter is particularly noteworthy at Evanston's Lincoln School. His grandkids were students here in the 1980s, and he would occasionally appear (w/ Secret Service detail) picking them up or dropping them off, and even visiting with students and teachers.
