The guy arresting you shouldn’t look like the guy in a ski mask robbing a liquor store. It’s why we’re advancing legislation to put a stop to secret police-style masked law enforcement.

"These tax cuts will pay for themselves" is one of the GOP's most popular—and biggest—lies.

The same people demanding you present a photo ID to vote are perfectly fine with letting you be arrested, handcuffed & thrown into a van by armed men wearing plain clothes, face masks & presenting no identification of any sort.

Karen Bass: "It's felt in LA like we're part of a grand experiment. How far will the public tolerate the federal government intervening and seizing power from a governor? I think it's being tried out here."

a metaphor in so many ways

New in PN: Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism “'I’ve never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable,' Judge Young fumed. 'I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this.' *More of this, please*"

If random men in masks claiming to be ICE agents try to grab me, and they’re *not* really ICE, I have the legal right to defend myself against them, yes? And if they are ICE, I don’t? So how am I supposed to tell the difference? I’m supposed to give my masked kidnappers the benefit of the doubt??

The active duty soldier who was placed in on an involuntary mental health hold after speaking out about ICE abuses has been released. He was given no treatment nor diagnosis and no reason for the hold.

NOTE TO MY FELLOW AMERICANS: Regime change starts at home.

Setting aside the abhorent humanitarian crimes for a moment -- has Iraq been so memory holed that people in power seriously forget what a freaking disaster it was for *the US*?? Does no asshat pol remember the farce of "Mission Accomplished" and then the endless stream of US casualties and amputees?

In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.

If ICE weren’t a government agency, it’d be up on RICO charges by now. Coordinated attacks on immigrant communities, warrantless detentions, and even targeting elected officials. This ain't law enforcement—it’s tax dollar-funded terror.

Can someone in immigration law explain to me how this is legal?

Just pure unadulterated racism on Fox:

Illinois has enshrined protections to meet this very moment. In a time of increasing overreach and hateful rhetoric, it's more important than ever to reaffirm our commitment to the rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community. You have a home here always.

“A U.S. citizen!” And now he’s missing. Adrian Martinez tried to defend a man ICE was harassing. Video shows six agents swarming him. He struggles but doesn’t lay hands on them. They take him to the ground & shove him into a CBP vehicle. Abuse of power. Keep recording. Don’t stop. (1 of 2)

No one is pressuring legislators so nothing will happen. Heavy constituent pressure is the only thing that will work. www.crfb.org/press-releas...

Parnas: He sends the Marines into American cities not to protect us, folks, but to silence us. He ignores court orders like they’re optional. He surrounds himself with loyalists who exist solely to carry out his will. This is a leadership style that’s called authoritarianism.

Always.

The horrific assassination of a Minnesota state legislator and her spouse — and the attempted assassination of another legislator and his wife — has been termed as “politically motivated.” More aptly, it should also be categorized as Christian nationalist-motivated terrorism. ffrf.us/4458b4k

Hi, it’s Meg again. Brad is still in ICE custody. We are grateful to the many friends, supporters, and allies who have gathered in Federal Plaza. Together we are standing up for those with no voice.

Lee and Moreno had assumed (or simply fabricated) that the guy that murdered the representative was a Marxist or leftist; of course we know now he was a right wing Christian nationalist anti-choice anti-gay fanatic, just like them.

Netenyahu must be stopped - these companies must be named and shamed

Padilla: I was forced to the ground, first on my knees and then flat on my chest. And as I was handcuffed and marched down a hallway repeatedly asking, why am I being detained? Not once did they tell me why. I pray you never have a moment like this

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

My law firm is currently litigating 55 voting and election cases in 24 states. Two points: This is a very large caseload for this point in the election cycle. It is more evenly spread across states than usual which reflects the creep of voter suppression laws into even safe GOP states.

People in the GOP made fun of Nancy Pelosi's husband being nearly beaten to death with a hammer. You cannot shame these people. You cannot demand they adhere to social norms. They gleefully, willfully spread misinformation about attacks they provoke. They can only be punished.

Reminder: Netanyahu's LIES helped lead the US into the Iraq war. Here he is testifying before Congress in 2002 saying Saddam Hussein is building nuclear weapons. www.vox.com/2015/2/26/81...

Photo from The Hill's Al Weaver (from Xitter) catches Tina Smith confronting Mike Lee.

This is well stated. Mike Lee will forever be associated in my mind with his unbelievably cruel and stupid tweets about the Hortman assassination. He is a disgrace to the Senate and Utah.
