I think it is very important that during the transformation sequence in Gunbuster episode 5, the background alternates between lesbian flag colors and bi flag colors.

So yeah overall Layzner was really good. The first 20 or so episodes are actually so peak. Genuinely some of my favorite mecha anime ever. It starts to get a bit rough with the last few episodes of part 1 which is probably around when the show's episode count was slashed.

wow ok when they said the last Layzner OVA expands on the ending I didn't think that meant the TV ending is straight up missing necessary plot beats to understand what's going on. Wild that they didn't have time to include the actual plot but still spent like a third of the ep on a clips show lol

It's kinda funny that I'm watching Layzner at the same time as like 5 other people are doing Gundam 00 watch threads. The one thing I knew about Layzner going in was that it was a big inspiration for Gundam 00.

honestly Layzner part 2 is starting to win me over. It's still not as good as part 1 and the tone is a lot more inconsistent. Some wild shit happens in here. But I think it makes more sense structurally as a story if you consider Le Caine and his subordinates as the protags rather than Eiji and co.
