Next Up in the Queue This thicc boi - The Will of the Many by James Islington Loving the typeset + heft of this book. 50 pages in and addictive pacing.

Houndy is now nailing his searches outside for Birch Scent with a crossbreeze and at various heights so... I guess we will look for a Nosework trial.

A 10 year old kid bought this for me because "it reminded me of you." Influencing the kids of tomorrow with my sunny disposition. Confirmation my kid has good taste in friends.

Hikes today with some big kitties as polite neighbors. We always hike in a small group + bring 4 dogs + pack bear spray. Still makes you a little nervous to see big prints like this following last week's tracks.

New Sport - who dis? Milly got to try barn hunt yesterday. She is a slow/methodical worker who has great accuracy but obviously uses sniffing to regulate herself as much as hunt. It will be fun to learn something new together.

In the last year, I've had two coworkers leave to start their own small businesses and they are both incredibly happy. As a creature of habit/stability, the idea never had appeal until recently. If you could run any small business with a store, what would it be (removing all 'profitable' needs)?

This hooligan will now bring the ball back instead of simply running circles with it for 20 minutes. She does require a liver snack trade, which is fair compensation. Milly always has demonstrated solid toy interest but only recently is tying it to human participation. Now the fun starts.

Excited to announce I'll be writing for this! Can't wait for you guys to see the full book once it's ready!!!

Usually I've got every weekend booked with racing or training through March but this year has just been slower due to life. Putting my energy into- ✍️Over 10k words into a novel project πŸ•Ί Registered for a 1/2 Marathon in June πŸ€ Barn Hunt Instinct Tests in March πŸ• Ob and Rally entered in March

"I found this, mom. Do you want it?"

The 1925 Serum Run was a relay and the longest portion was less than 100 miles. I demand a historically accurate race where the only way to enter is to put together a group of 20 mushers for a single "team." And at least one hand off has to happen somewhere unmarked on the trail for accuracy.

On the heels of the Emergency Vet Bill came the winter storm came the work week from hell came the winter illness for the humans. All my content is couch pictures now. Sorry not sorry.

The super judgemental animals singing "Deception" and "Disgrace" in Lion King 2 lives rent free in my head.

-local forecasts urging people to work from home- "Yeah, I'm going to go to the store then head into the office." My husband with all the confidence only shitbox Chevy Van owners can posess.

If we’re going to save Joann’s…… this towns gonna have to put on the greatest fursuit parade the worlds ever seeen

Muscle references for a loud, black dog. Maybe I'll sketch again someday

Narrator - Work did not, in fact, mellow out.

Me shouting over my dogs rioting because the mountain air is now at home and that is ✨️ very ✨️ exciting "WE WILL MAINTAIN DECORUM"

Sunday Hikes. Trails were surprisingly busy for Superbowl. We still got to enjoy our own little hiking paths. After work last week, I'm grateful to just take today slow. Hopefully we can get a sled run in next week if work mellows out.

Kicking off February with a veterinary emergency that sucked down our savings. Fortunately Callie is doing great and not racing has left us open to do other things like- βœ…οΈ Writing daily βœ…οΈ Reading daily βœ…οΈ Made homemade bread and a an amazing Stew yesterday βœ…οΈ Restarted Agility training

I walk my wheelchair-bound neighbor's 9-yr-old husky when I can, and today she insisted on paying me with 3 dozen eggs so now I'm out test driving Lamborghinis.

Hitting those word count goals the last few days and actually seeing how this silly little story may write itself for a week or so. Bo is studiously supervising these efforts.

Winter Storm Warning Hike followed by a supervised stuffed toy destruction party. Will round it out with a writing sesh and an Agility Class. Sunday-funday.

Where are people hosting their stories, writing, reflections that is acessible/linkable with some basic privacy functions? I used to write a lot on Meta but am trying to avoid putting my stuff into systems scraped by AI to generate content πŸ€”

I have loved dogs my entire life. However, I never expected in adulthood I would fall so in love with a breed-type that would steal my heart and define what a "good dog" is to me. Cheers to the Alaskan Husky - in all their myriad forms and bloodlines. I wish I could own a hundred in the time I have.

The worst part about a fantastic book is I struggle to get much of anything else done. No complaints from the librarian hounds.

-stares at the newest New York Times news update- "I hate it here and am tired."

We're finally dismantling the federal government! Sure hope it doesn't serve essential functions that I've taken for granted my whole life

I'm pretty stoked to see a large cross-section of dogbook making the migration to BlueSky πŸ€™ While I won't be completely deactivating in 'the bad place' as I want to be able to leave local businesses positive reviews, that platform will no longer get our content. Which is pretty cute so their loss.

That's a wrap - ECX 2025 complete. This was our second time doing the 31 miler. Great trail, incredible race organization, and fantastic vet team. We have dogs retiring so probably won't be back for a while unless we borrow some dogs. Until next time, Joseph! We love this community and race so much.

Due to a course change that required different distance intervals than we trained for, we made the hard decision to switch to the 31 miler today. This year has not offered consistent snow in Oregon for training and we want the dogs to stay happy and healthy.
