1/4 The wars of Beleriand in the Silmarillion are a masterclass in disinformation and sowing distrust and mutiny. Morgoth achieves with Hurin what he could never by force, after time Hurin is broken and he frees him, only for Hurin to make the situation a thousand times worse for everyone else.

The world is in descent, and who would have guessed that the man who'd sell his own mother for 20 bucks would also sell his own country out. He has now created a security landscape where Taiwan will certainly have to rethink how to approach an invasion by the Chinese which is ever more likely.
