Artemis technically died at the edge of the universe. Well, more like she was between life and death and felt this was a good place to end her story anyway. In that in between state she was in the lifestream and saw Emet and Hyth again, there they convinced her to continue living.

Artemis was sheltered most of her young life. She was forced into a type of etiquette school later on where she was taught proper manners and to entertain. She hated it but later used what she was taught to manipulate and get what she wants.
