Europe has to face up to the reality that Trump's predatory America is no longer an ally, but a threat. We must look to ourselves.

The betrayal of Ukraine, the gangsterism that seeks to extort hundreds of billions out of Ukrainians' suffering, is a disgrace that will continue to shame America in a hundred years time.

America will have to live with the shame of what's happening here for years. www.wsj.com/world/europe...

Europe can no longer afford to put its security in America's hands. We can't afford to depend on US military technology. As Ukraine is experiencing, if ever we face a crisis, rather than supporting us, the US can use it as an opportunity for extortion.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Russia's leaders are literally laughing at how easily they've played Trump and destroyed the western alliance.

From World Policeman to Global Gangster In a Truth Social post Donald Trump wrote Ukraine’s Zelenskyy “better move fast” or he won’t have a country left. Trump added that Zelenskyy had “done a terrible job” and called him a dictator “without elections”. www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

Trump has ruled himself out of having any say in Ukraine's fate. Ukraine rejects his so-called negotiations (which are nothing but a sell-out to Putin). And Europe rejects them. Led by a president who just parrots Russian propaganda lines, the US is no longer a player in Europe.

Zelensky is no Beneš. This won't be Munich 1938. Ukraine will not accept the dictat of Putin and Trump. Ukrainians have shown the mettle they are made of. They won't submit to Trump's bullying. Europe must now step up and provide Ukraine with far stronger support. We must stand with Ukraine.

Give Us Zelensky’s Head Moscow's most prominent talking heads say that Russia isn't interested in negotiations, but hopes to use the talks to get rid of Zelensky with Trump's and Kellogg's help. My latest for @cepa.org: cepa.org/article/exci...

If the treachery of the Trump regime has one good outcome, it's that Europe will get its act together, step up to the mark and provide Ukraine the assistance it needs. By betraying and insulting all its allies, America is just making itself irrelevant.

Europe has given more support to Ukraine than the US. Europe needs to do more. But nevertheless, facts matter.

'Ukraine has bought Europe time by standing as its first line of defence. Enough of that time has already been squandered through refusal to recognise the danger. History may never forgive the current generation of European leaders if their procrastination continues' www.ft.com/content/f268...

The Trump admin says Europe must take responsibility for its own continent, & that America will no longer support Ukraine. They also say they will negotiate Ukraine's future, without Europe. They can't have it both ways. If they're withdrawing from Europe, then butt out. Europe stands with Ukraine.

America has abandoned its role as a global leader. Its allies don't trust it any more, and its enemies don't fear it. Trump's America is a weakened, diminished country. We in Europe have to look to ourselves.

Trump's caving into Putin is being compared to Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler. That's unfair. Chamberlain was a fundamentally decent man who failed to rise to the responsibility history had placed upon him. Trump is a craven, corrupt, mentally incontinent fool, without a moral bone in his body.

Putin doesn't see Trump as strong. He sees him as a feeble-minded fool who responds to flattery and can easily be played.

Ukraine should not accept the Trump/Putin dictat. This needs to be the moment when Europe steps up to the mark and recognises that it has to rely on itself, in the first place by giving full support to Ukraine. America is no longer a reliable ally.

Europe needs to face reality: The US under Trump cannot be considered an ally: 1. Trump does not even in words guarantee the security of allies. 2. Trump refuses to discuss "peace plans" for Ukraine. 3. He is giving Russia free access to US intelligence through Tulsi Gabbard.

Europe and Ukraine need to exclude the US from any negotiations about Ukraine's future. The US under Trump is simply a Putin friend & an enemy of Ukraine, Europe and democracy.

America has shown it is no longer an ally to be relied upon. The Trump regime is contemptuous of international law & human rights. It does not respect the sovereignty of nations. We in the UK must rely on ourselves & our European partners, first of all in standing with Ukraine.

The US Trump-serving media, notably Bloombergs, need to stop talking about Musk's "desire to enhance government efficiency." We all understand that he is imposing his self-serving government capture. Say so! Stop treating your audience as dumb or Musk as decent!

Musk is accusing everybody of corruption, because that is the world he is used to. He has made billions of dollars of government contracts. He is just an authoritarian kleptocrat who needs to be investigated, arrested, prosecuted & sentenced to jail.

Whether or not Trump imposes tariffs on the UK, the UK govt should not even think of appeasing the malign narcissist in the White House. Canada has always been a steadfast friend. Unlike America, Canada came to our aid immediately in two world wars. We should stand with Canada.

Would be nice to see some UK politicians speaking up in support of Canada, which is blameless in this and with which Britain has far closer ties than it does with the US. Nobody hold their breath. www.ft.com/content/b910...

Donald Trump. An Apology. The new Private Eye is out now

Who saw that coming ..?

Europe needs to wake up and take responsibility for its own security, in the first place by providing Ukraine with all it needs to win. The US is in a funk. It's no longer a reliable ally. We need to rely on ourselves.

Leaving social-media companies to do their own fact-checking has proved inadequate. Community notes are no substitute. What is needed is proper regulation to stop social media and their megalomaniac plutacrat owners poisoning our societies with lies and filth.
