the best joke in videogames development is replying "ship it" to every broken ass prototype no I will not be taking questions

The Careening Demo has been updated, so it now has Pylons, Music, and Reactive Grass ported back from the main build, now's a great time to check it out, because of course nobody is exhausted from all of the demos at NextFest.

A quick path traced render is not very flattering to my bodgy carpet material, but otherwise it's mostly working.

Like a healthy person I'm dealing with my anxiety over my continued unemployment by ignoring what I should be doing, and instead starting a rough block-out for a quick little (extremely dumb) project.

As an extension from the reactive grass system, you (and enemies) now leave trails in the water, and disrupt the "foam". I think I may want to switch the foam from its current SDF base to... probably vertex painting, but we'll see when I have time.

I'm not sure if it's just because I'm in a bad mood, but most of what I've tried from this Nextfest has annoyed me more than they delighted me. I hit soft-locks in two games, and any attempts at twee or charming writing have left me cold. Oh well, there's always next time.

There's a lovely soft colour grade to The Count of Monte Cristo (2024) that really makes it feel like a film from another era (though its camera work is very modern). It's constantly, subtly gorgeous.

Fuck, because my version control is, as they say, very bad, I made a bunch of changes to update the demo, packaged the project, then reverted them back to focus on the main game. I just realised I stuffed up on one of them, so now I have to re-do everything to re-package the demo.

Grass!

First major update for Careening since EA launch is out, featuring a new level / game mode and 10 new achievements. Plus some foliage is now reactive, and there's a music track in the game now. Now I just need to put a clip together of the features, and backport some things to the demo.

Oh fuck, Balatro is on Gamepass. I... I held out for so long. Goodbye world, remember me for my game that nobody played.

I wrote my first hlsl today, in the hopes of finally getting a grass interaction system that is quick, and doesn't rely on too much hacky bullshit. Still lots of work to do, but it's a start!

I'm trying to write a melody here, and the B part, no matter what I'm doing, keeps ending up sounding like the "I'm-Still-in-to-you" bit from Paramore's "Still Into You." It's not even in the same key, but my hands just keep playing it, somehow (I am so bad at writing music).

Third time trial for the new level is in, which I designed with a Speed Stat of ~2 as the minimum for completion, and I think I've got the timing for the gates pretty much spot on (if only the lava weren't there).

Bandmates, we just released Pikselnesia’s dating-meets-rhythm game Afterlove EP on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 🤘 This is a tale of finding oneself, and is the swansong of beloved Mohammad Fahmi, the late creator of Coffee Talk. Trailer 👇

The Crimson Diamond is part of this incredible Steam bundle, presented by @fellowtraveller.games! 1000xResist, Harold Halibut, Dread Delusion, Cryptmaster, Solium Infernum, Mouthwashing, Duck Detective & more! So many amazing games at one unbeatable price! 🤩 store.steampowered.com/bundle/49132...

A downside of my combination of mostly using a single open world and having bad documentation, is that now that I'm creating a second proper level I have to remember how to deal with problems like "the sun is completely horizontal" or "I don't have a RVT set-up, so all my foliage rapidly flashes."

I've watched five episodes of Scavenger's Reign over the last few days, and I'm enjoying that it's mostly ~3 minute long vignettes where they're like "What if we created the most fucked up ecological niche, and then added human body horror to it." More shows should be like this, I think.

Terry's Other Games launches today! 5pm CET on steam and itch.io, for Windows, Mac and Linux!

It's nice to see that the Steam algorithm has informed about as many curators that my game exists as it has real people. But as an anxious person I have so many questions that these emails don't cover. Like why the fuck are you all asking for 3-5 keys. My game isn't worth on-selling keys for!

I had a plan to make a trailer like one of those Nintendo Direct ones, where a voiceover calmly explain the gameplay of a game. My trailer has not quite ended up like that (For length reasons the full version is on youtube).

Big news (gosh I'm good at marketing). Careening is out now in Early Access. This is just a first little step, but I'm excited to see where the game goes from here. store.steampowered.com/app/3321790/...

Alright, I just have to do this every day, and then I'll only be slightly short on rent.

And that's Twin Peaks finished. That could be the greatest show to ever do it.

Me through most of Twin Peaks: The Return so far: "There's an insidious darkness to society bubbling just under the surface, that threatens at any moment to burst forth and drown the world. It is something we must fight against." Me when Ed appears: "BIG ED HURLEY."

And that's credits on Citizen Sleeper 2. Corker of a game, builds on its predecessor in interesting ways, while keeping the core of what worked. I'll be thinking about it for a while.

Citizen Sleeper 2 will occasionally pull off the perfect representation of a day when you wake up, and immediately know that you should simply go back to bed.

I know I'm bad at games, but I don't even know how you go into negative skill points.

CITIZEN SLEEPER 2 is💫OUT NOW!💫 Get a ship, find a crew, and take on contracts while you navigate across the Starward Belt, in this Dice Driven RPG. “The perfect sequel, offering complexity, consequence, and quiet optimism in a world of strife.” - PCGamesN links below 👇

I know I have less than a hundred dollars in my bank account, but after watching Episode 8 of Twin Peaks The Return last night I'm wondering how much it would cost to rent a cinema to see it there. Even saying that, I'm still not sure if I *liked* the episode, it is A LOT.

Hahaha, 14 days since I first submitted it for approval. I'd better put this trailer together (and actually update the Store page, which I've been meaning to do for a month).

God, there's a brief moment in episode 6 of The Return that's like "DID YOU FORGET THAT THIS IS A SHOW ABOUT GRIEF? FUCK YOU."

It has been less than two days since I finished Season 2 of Twin Peaks, and I still excitedly said "LUCY!" when she first appeared on screen in The Return.

Okay, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is a harrowing film.

Nightmare Kart version 1.12.3 is now live! The changes are very extensive, so please refer to the change list below! Get the game here: ➡️ Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2930160/... ➡️ Itchio: b0tster.itch.io/nmkart

The middle of season 2 was threatening to reduce my rating for Twin Peaks (down from "possibly the best show to ever do it"), but I'm 2 episodes from the end of the season, and it's so fucking back.

God, Coop is the best.
