So the results are in! In 2024, Wind Power was the MAIN contributor of electricity into the UK grid with 29.4%. Gas was a close second at 25.9%. Also, in line with this, wholesale energy prices DROPPED. It's all going in the right direction.

Not bothering the locals...ScotRail's 43163 leads an "Inter7City" set south, having just called at Newtonmore on it's way to Edinburgh having departed Inverness at 1248. 29/10/24. #Photography #Scotland

On a day almost as blustery as today in Spetember 2019, loco 80078 plies it's trade on the North Norfolk Railway, having just left Weybourne for Sheringham. #photography #railway

Il y a 30 ans…Happy Birthday, Eurostar!

Happy 30th birthday eurostar! On a grey November day in 1994, 400 metre-long yellow, white, and blue trains that were built in 3 countries would start bringing London, Paris, and Brussels closer than they had ever been. Europe on rails basically. ☺️ #TrainsNotPlanes

Good evening BlueSky, a bit of #Photography for you: An iconic view of the West Highland line with 156500 leading the 0603 Mallaig - Glasgow Queen Street ScotRail service. Beinn Dorain forms the backdrop as the train heads for it's next stop at Upper Tyndrum.

Sunday shift to Paris. Here's a reminder of how it would have looked if you travelled with us in the early years of eurostar. Uniform by Balmain and a lot of yellow. #eurostar30

On this better platform I’m going to show my drawings without the lines all over them. Here is the dynamic LNER Azuma livery, fun to draw this one with its dynamic swooshes and speed lines which work so well on the real train as it seeds past. #Azuma #Class800 #Hitachi

Power, both human and natural. ScotRail's 43127 leads an Inter7city service north towards Inverness. 📍 Kindallachan, Perth and Kinross #photography

From London to the clouds - the Fort William portion of the Caledonion Sleeper passes between Tyndrum and Bridge of Orchy.

It's difficult sometimes to get the scale of the landscape around the West Highland Line, but this does a pretty good job of showing it. I invite you to find yesterday's 0603 @ScotRail Mallaig - Glasgow Queen Street which is hiding in shot....

Afternoon everyone from Druimachdar Pass, famously the highest point on the railway network in Britain, genuine question though, what's the lowest point?

March 2019 and you find yourself at Paignton wanting to get to Exeter - pick your fighter ⬇️

Foul day for weather today across the country, here's a bit of a warming sight for you, EMR's 158806 passes through Manea on a Liverpool Lime Street- Norwich Thorpe working, 25th May 2024.

Welcome to all those of you new to BlueSky! 🟦❤️

As Britain ends production of electricity from coal, the power stations of "Megawatt Valley" along the River Trent are soon to disappear from the landscape. Here's to "King Coal", thanks for everything you did, but your time has now come. 📍Ratcliffe, West Burton and Cottam

Sunday trivia for you all - where did I take this photo?

Anyone know how to give an #EV a pep-talk? Mine solidly refuses to believe it's capable of 200 miles on a full charge. C'mon buddy have some faith in yourself!

Deep in the green English countryside, an East Midlands Railway service glides over the Welland viaduct, the longest in the United Kingdom comprising more than 30 million bricks, it's been doing it's job since 1878. #trains #photography

Back in the day, #TrainTwitter used to be very enjoyable. It would be lovely to see something similar on here. #RailBlue maybe? How about sharing your favourite railway images in celebration of a great way to travel. I'll start with one of tracks and signals in Brussels by night.

Can't think of a better image to lead with here on bluesky than my all time favourite. A freezing cold January morning last year was worth wrapping up for, as we catch this LNER Azuma heading to London in the early hours. I think it was around -10oc that morning, beautiful! #photography

Hello all, welcome especially to those of you joining from the other side. Usual service here, railway photography with a bit of politics, thanks for joining me!
