From a very conservative Supreme Court Justice.

Good WaPo piece on Trump team trashing free Europe while letting autocrats slide. Gift link: wapo.st/43p0VkH

It is wild to me that humans have deliberately learned how to build democratic societies over centuries and a handful of utter clowns can burn it all down in months.

Now that Trump has blasted Leonard Leo, don't let the right wing sanitize the Federalist Society. Its members have been supporting voter suppression for years, its judges are among the hardest on voters. What will come from Trump now will be far worse, but do not judge democracy on a curve.

The country is clamoring for rational authentic leadership. It is possible. Good things are possible. The leaders need to call out the bullshit from the Trump side AND share a vision of what is possible. In short: a leader needs to lead.

Huge opportunity for a political party that believes government can do good things. Public opinion is finally shifting after 50 years of right wing anti-government propaganda. This isn't the time for cowering and throat clearing www.cnn.com/2025/06/01/p...

Back in the day, conservatives and liberals only disagreed about how big government should be and how to make it work more efficiently - not whether the government should exist. I look forward to getting back to that.

A lot of what conservatives complain about the left are often projection but even then, I’ve been stunned at how much of a nanny state Texas and other red states are becoming. You have freedom to own guns and be racist but everything else is micromanaged by the government.

This part

There's a bunch of ppl on this site who are doing China cope where they pretend that it'll all be puppies and rainbows if China replaces the US as the world's leading power and that possibility will in fact be pretty awful for so long as the CCP is in charge there. 10 years for writing gay sex!

the president accusing joe biden of being a clone decanted in 2020 to assume the presidency is not going to make the news tomorrow

🧵New from me: MAHA Report Appears to Plagiarize a 2023 Document Published During RFK Jr.’s Tenure at CHD infoepi.substack.com/p/maha-plag...

The MAHA report appears to be almost identical to a 2023 document put out by “Children’s Health Defense,” the antivaxx front that RFK Jr. used to pay himself >$20K/wk for spreading disinformation. It appears AI was used to make the tone more official sounding & add citations, many of which are fake.

Nope. Not only is it in the NAME, but it works for Congress. Literally. The Congressional Research Service is there. Doing research for….you guessed it. Congress. The papers of members of Congress are there. This entire administration has no idea what the Library of Congress is.

The entire point.

He has refused his assent to laws the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. …. He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people…

For four long years I was told not to call what’s coming our way fascism but here we are:

What is wrong with these universities??!!!!

BREAKING: Over 130 former federal & state judges have filed an amicus brief urging the court to drop charges against Judge Dugan in Wisconsin The charges seek to criminalize judicial discretion & set a dangerous precedent for executive overreach We MUST defend judicial independence👇

San Diego. Unconscionable.

Why would anyone enter a “deal” with Trump?! The only “deal” the schools should accept is if Trump leaves office.

How did this work out for the law firms?

The US government is marshaling thought police to screen anyone seeking entry to America's most prestigious university from abroad. But *lack of public thoughts* could also lead to a denial of a visa to study there.

This person gets it!

Been saying this for awhile, but will repeat it for emphasis: If you love freedom but don’t care if it applies to everyone, what you actually love is privilege.

What Trump is doing is wrong. His administration expects & demands acquiescence, but such obedience is unAmerican. We fight it in court. We fight at the ballot box. We speak out and seek leaders who speak out as well. The U.S. exists because we rebelled against a tyrant. Trump is a tyrant.

Folks Trump has no authority to fire the National Portrait Gallery director and no one need report it as if he does

Donald Trump gives his admirers permission to be their worst selves. It’s almost as if the party that rallied around impeaching Clinton for lying about a blowjob didn’t really mean what they said about the importance of Presidents serving as role models for the nation.

when you look at the powers trump is claiming and boil it down, he really does seem to see himself as the literal embodiment of the executive branch, if not the entire nation, and thus his authority extends to everything www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...

ICYMI: Pam Bondi told the American Bar Assn she's ending its access to nonpublic info about Trump's judicial nominees as it "no longer functions as a fair arbiter of nominees’ qualifications." Join me in remembering the qualifications of Trump's first-term picks. 😃 www.huffpost.com/entry/pam-bo...

fitting how a week full of stenography access journalism claiming this softshell crab had "stepped away from politics" ends with this

I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but the U.S. government is not a business and shouldn’t be run like one. It’s a service—for the people.
