I’m not sure they even need a Centrist. They need someone that clearly strikes on people’s displeasure with the status quo. I’m quite certain Bernie would’ve won in 2016 if he got the nom and seeing his voters swing to Trump just shows it’s not ideological, they want someone to shake it up.

It might. “You’re getting ripped off” and talking about Healthcare reform are real and have meaning to most of us.

We are just saturated with misinformation, largely spread online. Fringe ideas are pulled to the forefront due to the way algorithms work. This sort of stuff is the outcome.

I do wanna note this has to be a minimum requirement for whoever chairs the DNC. Ground level organizing and modern media literacy & investment are musts. They have to build very long term, well beyond the next two elections.

I kinda agree with Jon here. I don’t think it’s even being more conservative, but I do think one way to fight the right wing media onslaught is getting in front of people, in person if possible, and talking. It’s not easy, but it humanizes the “other side” for many.

Serious question here. Is there hope they figure it out and combat this?

My birthday wish is you telling us what the FL Democrats will be doing differently in the next two years.

Of course.

She lost? Not uncommon and also it’s not her party to lead long term. They need new voices.

It’s also a distraction that everyone took the bait on.

How will Florida Democrats do that? What changes will you do based on how things have gone the last several years here?

Honestly, with the news today alone, I don’t think they feel they’ve pushed people too far still.

Gotta say, I don’t love the way the lottery works. I’m okay with a lottery, but having the best odds and ending up 7th is a kick in the balls. That would be basically impossible in the NBA.

Again, how do you plan to reach these voters? Are we knocking on those doors? Are they registered to vote?

I don’t even know how we properly start to fix this shit. People just believe whatever to justify their behavior.

This state party needs a desperate overhaul. The tactics, the candidate recruitment, the waste of resources have put all of us that live here deep into the wilderness. Fix it or let new leaders take a crack at trying to turn it around.

How will be plan to get this message to voters? Many voters don’t watch Sunday Morning shows or even consume their news via legacy media. How do you plan to invest in modern media to get this message to voters?

Nothing like a contract that is worth more than the entire reported net worth of your team’s principal owner to put things into perspective.

That still isn’t an enshrined amendment. Also, think about where SCOTUS derives its authority. The Constitution. If they ruled to override a literal amendment, what gives them authority on that or any other ruling? There is plenty to be concerned about with Trump, let’s focus on reality.
comment in response to

That isn’t remotely the same. There isn’t a clear, explicit amendment for campaign financing. If he wants to remove birthright citizenship (or run a 3rd term), he has to repel an amendment. Not happening.
comment in response to

14th Amendment disagrees. He’s not going to get around Constitutional amendments via executive order or bluster.

That seems to be a theme for a lotta folks. I really hope more sports media (and everyone else) sees this and gets over here soon.

This is fine and all, but again, you are the chair for the Florida DNC. There is a 1 million+ registration gap now under your watch as chair. The FL DNC virtually registered no new voters leading up to the 2024 election. How do you plan to change this?

Airports + alcohol. I fly a lot for work, the experience is always terrible. Crammed full of people, small spaces (especially CLT) near the gates, often hard to find somewhere to sit. God forbid you get delayed. Then you have folks drinking for a 7 am flight…

Martin is fine, but it should be Ben. I’ve been jealous watching the turn around in Wisconsin the last few years while watching Florida sink deeper into the swamp.

So what is the plan? These are very red districts. Are you knocking on doors? Are you seeking out and registering new voters?

Hey Nikki, I wanted to ask again. What is the Florida DNC planning to do to close the registration gap in the state? I think we’d love to see where and how you plan to invest in the state considering we have major elections here in 2026.

I keep beating the drum, but there are pathways for Dems to start changing this trend with farmers, blue collar workers, etc. in states like KS, NE & IA. They’ve got to get serious about investing and getting boots on the ground though.

Huh? In the Senate or in their respective states? Either way, that’s not accurate.

So mixed on this. On one hand, getting Meatball out of Florida is great + he and Trump will likely clash. On the other, he’s an asshole who will be in charge of 3 million federal employees…
