If you live in or around NYC, Samascott Orchards probably sells at your local farmers market, and they have some sort of co-marketing agreement with the Cornell University Ag Sciences research orchards to sell locally developed varietals and they are _amazing_.

Heck, you could refuse to vote for Cuomo for mayor for the extremely boring reason of "name one policy Cuomo implemented as governor that left New York City in a better state than before." As the saying goes, I'll wait.

Incredible that NYC’s real estate industry is falling for Cuomo, who passed the strictest rent controls in the country in 2019. It’s all vibes with them. Punch left rhetorically and say nice things about Israel and they‘ll overlook him sending a third of the city’s housing stock heading towards zero

Today, on filing day, I will tell you, the Bluesky audience, the thing that I most wish the public knew, on this filing day, and it is this: No one cares that you extended. No one cares. Not me, not your mom, not your dad, not the IRS, not no one. Its not an audit black mark, its fine.

🚀🚀

Red states wanting people to move there and blue states being “fuck off we’re full” is a multi-pronged disaster. She might as well wear a MAGA hat to every meeting

Insane…Cuomo is blaming his ridiculous ChatGPT’d, not-proofread bullshit housing plan on a guy who got his left arm amputated. Look forward to four to eight years of this if New York City voters are dumb enough to make this meathead our mayor.

The obvious problem that now presents itself to these psychopaths is that Garcia is, the instant he returns, a celebrity. People with cameras will want to ask him questions like “what was it like inside that prison” and “did any of your fellow prisoners strike you as hardened criminals?”

it is *critically* important that people remember that bukele doesn't do any of this without united states money. kadyrov doesn't gargle putin's balls for free and bukele doesn't gargle trump's for free, either. demand that your member of congress answer for that money, they're not (yet) the duma.

In retrospect, Trump's months-long game of footsie with Kim Jong Un during his first administration may have had some motivations beyond just liking the photo ops, and we should probably be deeply thankful that Americans are not being disappeared to a nuclear power.

I don't think Americans understand how much of the empire has now returned home. The open policy of deporting legal residents to third world prison camps ran by collaborating dictatorships is a modern Operation Condor with new paint. The entire purpose is to create an environment of terror.

The media ran 3 weeks of wall-to-wall multiple-front-page stories a day coverage in order to inform the public that one of these two men was dangerously senile and unqualified to be President.

Germany shutting down its nuclear power program has been an unmitigated disaster

Well it’s true that we shredded our alliance with the entirety of Europe, our historically successful trading relationships, our role as leader of the G7, but at least we built strong ties with El Salvador, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, so it could imprison our people

I've not commented on this whole dire wolf thing as people much smarter than me have done so, but there's something I want to say that I think is valuable and will elevate the conversation: Dire wolf? I hardly know her wolf!

aside: a stunning comment from David Baker, UW professor who won the Nobel Prize in 2024. Now 15 lab members are looking for positions overseas. “There’s so many amazing people who want to come in, & we can’t take them. The Nobel Prize was just a little blip. But things have gotten quite bleak.”

"Guantánamo Bay and Abu Ghraib were the centerpiece of a moral rot that pervades the USA" Nayib Bukele: "but imagine if we monetized the rot"

The idea that this useless jackass can slide into the mayorship based on nothing other than name recognition should make every single one of you supernova angry.

The great thing about this is that it could mean that we've started bombing Terhan, and it could also mean that we've reestablished full diplomatic relations in exchange for them agreeing to imprison Venezuelan elementary schoolers for us.

Of the many things I was not expecting out of a Doctor Who episode, a tribute to That Scene In Superman III That Ruined All Our Childhoods was pretty high up there. Also the "I know writers who use subtext and they're all cowards" gag in re RTD is apparently not gonna get old any time soon.
