I wonder if Portland has a “wink wink” deal with the Lakers for Jerami Grant trade that was based on them waiving Ayton so he could sign with them for the minimum.

Respect to Ayton for supporting and encouraging Clingan. Many players would have responded differently to a team drafting his replacement, but he took it in stride. I think he’ll help a contender at a smaller salary.

I acknowledge, this probably sounds too harsh on both. To even get to their point in life requires a huge amount of dedication, and I’ll applaud them whenever they come through town.

My hot take: Deandre Ayton and Evan Turner are very similar. Both had the talent and physical profile to be stars, but didn’t have the drive to be great. Neither were malcontents, but rather felt like they were content showing up to work and having a good time with their teammates.

I will say, this makes the Jrue Holiday trade even stranger.

Woah

This might set the market for a Shaedon extension

This only makes sense if the Jazz are trading Walker Kessler next

Perfect throw in for an Ayton trade

With Charlotte moving Mark Williams and drafting two wings, I’d be looking to trade the DeAndre Ayton to them for pick 33

CJ McCollum is going to be an excellent vet for Tre Johnson. Washington is making some smart moves this summer.

My favorite "perfect fit" picks from last nights picks: Khaman Maluach - Suns Cedric Coward - Grizzlies Jase Richardson - Magic

Also, Ayton to Charlotte for pick 33 or 34 now makes a lot of sense for both teams.

I wonder how Donovan Clingan is feeling today

Having said this, at least we didn't give up a 2026 unprotected pick gambling on Zion's health and Dejounte Murray's torn achilles recovery.

Day after thoughts: Drafting a Center isn't a big issue. I've always had the mindset that RWIII is not a factor because of his injuries. For Reath, he is not a regular-rotation level player in the NBA. The value is the issue, especially considering what Atlanta got for trading back from 13 to 23.
