American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

There were howls of protest and denial from the GOP any time we pointed out that Republicans want to cut Social Security. Now the most powerful official in the White House goes on TV and calls it "the big one to eliminate."

For all you "Not Yet A Constitutional Crisis" people: The kid at Columbia with a green card currently in secret ICE detention for thoughtcrime is a four alarm fire.

I'd like to bring this video to your attention. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyco... It's doing pretty significant numbers for what it is, so while I understand sharing it won't make a difference for those knee-deep in the cult of personality, I'd say it has a better-than-average chance of resonating.

Let’s get something clear. The GOP has the power to keep the government from shutting down in March. They control both chambers of Congress and the White House. If they can’t reach a budget deal within their own ranks, that completely on them. Dems: Don’t lift a finger to help them. Not one.

Happy Flag Day to all you Canadians! We hate him too.

When has Musk ever actually done anything but take credit for other peoples work? He’s a government leach that was born on third base and claims he hit a triple.

You are not powerless, and he is not unstoppable. Look at, and learn from, the funding freeze and how quickly he was forced to surrender.

This is why, in 2025, I am asking all patriotic Americans to be Uncle Buck.

Thinking about historical parallels. People talk about coups and autogolpes, the fascist seizure of power in the 1930s, and there are resemblances. But there are other models we could think about.

As people wake up to the reality of our situation welcome them with open arms. They are you, they are us.

1/ Expending energy on arguing about objective truths is a useless strategy. People are all waiting for their red line... Maybe its time for politicians to do some controlled burns to get those red lines crossed *now* before we lose the chance to fix this while it can be done without bloodshed.

Allowing conspiracy theorists a platform was a grave mistake on two fronts. It allowed those that are predisposed to belive put themselves into echo-chambers as well conditioning most of everyone else to immediately discount any extrodinary claim without critically looking at evidence.

For all my life I have never actively participated in socials. Stong opinions left onsaid, never formulated into words on paper. Now that it seems it is of the utmost importance to add my opinions to the growing growl I realise I have put myself at quite a disadvantage. Social anxiety is a bitch.
