Happy 20th anniversary to brutally beautiful Half-Life 2 - one of the main inspirations behind my unannounced horror projects. Still one of the best single-player campaigns in terms of level design and pacing!

Been slowly working on a pretty sizable Doom mapping project with some other (way more talented) level designers. Haven't been able to put in much time on it lately with life stuff and other projects getting in the way, but looking at what I've done so far, I'm pretty happy with it!

Don't have something grand for #blocktober. But sometime last year, I was looking for a style for some buildings in Core Decay. This was one, unfortunately it was rejected for... Reasons.

Couple more screenshots of the level I'm working on. In this section, the player has to jump between buildings and solve a quick puzzle to reach an area with enemies. (very short summery :P) #leveldesign #gamedesign #blocktober

Small little update on my #Battlefield project: Been working on breaking up longer sightlines (streets surrounding the walled conference center & resort compound) and started to add more verticality and elevation to the terrain. Streets will be "bombed" and have craters. #blocktober #leveldesign

I'm bad at just jumping straight to modeling environments before blocking out my levels. #Blocktober has inspired me to get quick and loose with level layouts before the art pass.

Created three new textures in substance designer today and did a quick bit of vertex painting over the blockout to get a feel for how the final map will turn out. Definitely on the right track! #blocktober #blockout #gamedev #indiegame #y2k

Been doing mostly combat/optimisation for #blocktober so here are some previously done layouts to feast upon

Old layout I did when I was practising for my Naughty Dog application. I’d just played Uncharted 4 so thought an arena with a grapple hook on that crane would be cool, swinging between the skyscrapers. A bit too square, too on the grid. I’d try to break it up a bit if I iterated on it. #blocktober

I've spent a lot of time studying the level design and layouts in #Prey and #Dishonored. Bringing this one from Prey back for #Blocktober. My measurements are probably off, but I tried to match the sizes of things pretty closely.
