Woohoo! It wasn't exactly a win, but it definitely wasn't a loss. People who are not trans or trans allies can feel a little safer knowing there's still one additional barrier between losing their own rights.

I talked with my boss before I left for vacation. I brought her up to speed on the danger to trans folks & how it might affect my job. She was super supportive and asked me to keep her abreast of updates and changes, both in the world and my personal situation so she can support me however she can.

Back from Hawaiin and news vacation. So much has happened, been rolled back, and new atrocities proposed. I wish the new administration had taken at least 1 government class because there are 5th graders out there who know more about how the government works than the Executive branch right now.

Being an adult means you can get mostly toys for Christmas (and the good, name brand ones you want) but also having steak, salad, and Yorkshire puddings for dinner while watching The Thin Man. I am super lucky and very privileged and I try not to forget it. Happy Holidaze to you all!

I am currently playing the game, "Which of my cats is snoring?" If they had kitty c-pap devices, we'd invest. The snores are cute but loud.

FYI: I'm speeding to my death while needing less embalming fluid than most due to the fact that the McRib is back in town again.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate.

Paper dolls can be cathartic in times of existential crises. People can make the world a very not-good place to be. Paper dolls, generally, do not. Let's make paper dolls!

An almost Cat 1 Hurricane was predicted to come into parts of WA last night. We got battered, but not nearly as bad as folks further south of us. We lost power on and off but its on now. The yard (& probably our roof) is littered with giant branches. I hope everyone in the PNW is safe & warm today.

My wife is @queenofnopants.bsky.social. She's trans. She shared this, this morning. I thought I should share it here. Stay safe, everyone.

I finally got a new job! It starts tomorrow. The work is what I specialize in/am really good at. It's WFH. The benefits are awesome. I love my new manager. We had a call on Friday to check in about onboarding and we talked for more than 15 minutes because we liked each others' brains. Wish me luck!

Can we have a law that makes opt-out the default of all AI scraping? 3/2024, MS said they don't use your content for AI. Surprise. MS has started using your content for AI. The setting is hard to find. Open Word/Excel, click "File" in the top left, then follow the rest of the instructions here:

I hope folks are doing as well as can be. My wife & I are taking steps to be safe if things get bad for trans adults/married gay couples. We're also securing our $$; I recommend putting $$ in an FDIC-insured account (up to $250K); the economy will be a little rocky soon w/ Trump's planned tariffs

Hang tight, folks.

Settling in for a nerve-wracking day. Wife and I bought ourselves some treats and I'm going to hide from the news while she gorges on it, occasionally coming up for air to tell me something she thinks I should know about the election. So glad I'm not working today.

"I want to protect the women...I'm going to do it, whether the women like it or not, I'm going to protect them." said Trump." PASS THIS ON. It doesn't have to be my post you retweet. Use any method to share this, please. Trump plans to substitute his judgment for that of every woman in America.

A good fart joke must be shared, unlike the subject matter of the joke.

The discovery and what they've decided to do with the story is remarkable.

We just filled out our ballots. I'll drop them in the drop box tomorrow. For those in the Seattle area, I always recommend the Stranger's election guide. It's irreverent and unabashedly lefty, but it's well researched and almost always spot on. www.thestranger.com/elections-20...

I don't like to be too political. But in this case, I cannot be political enough. If you were born with female reproductive parts, Project 2025 is gunning for your rights. If you were born trans, of color, or gay, Project 2025 is gunning for your life. Please take a look, hold your nose, and vote.

Happy Caturday! The girls love sitting in the window and often trade places when they get too hot - one goes to the shadow, the other lays down near the window. Becky has currently scored the valued window seat.

My friend Max creates a "Hold Your Nose and Vote" info dump with brief analysis of upcoming elections. He lives in CA, so if you do, too, it's a good read. Non-CA folks can still find info about the presidential election. He cites his sources and you can click through to view them for yourself.

Naomi does amazing work!

I made this for entertainment while watching Murder, She Wrote for the first time. I'm in the 3rd season. If you want to play, you must watch two or more episodes in consecutive order (no cherry-picking) to get a Bingo. Yes, I think this is hysterical. Yes, I currently have a mild fever.

Like Granny Weatherwax. I am not dead. But I have been frightened off social media by recent political events. Will be back when my anxiety is lower. Hopefully that will be sometime before the Election when I get into a bunker and hide.

We have returned from out trip to CA. We went to the Dundracon gaming convention. The LARP I wrote was loved by players, but painful for me. They had so much fun they ignored the carefully written plot. It's like they were cats and they decided the box was more fun than the toy that came in it.

Unpleasant news shared by my wife: "For those keeping track at home, this would be Section E of the UN definition of genocide." Image included of the article due to Former Twitter Company's crappy permissions issues for non-X persons.

Imagine a cartoon woman, hands in the air, running around screaming "AAAAAAHHHHHH." The only thing stopping me from being that woman is that I will never be that thin. Also, my voice and arms are getting tired.

I was in a hair salon once, listening to two early 20's blondes. One was saying "I really love Hello Kitty...really anything from Santeria, really. " She meant Sanrio. I did not correct her.

I don't always want to be the better person. Most of the time I want the other guy to be a better person in general, for my sake, his family's sake, and that guy on the sidewalk he might shove into traffic's sake.

Job hiring for my job is picking up! There are more positions each day, & people I submitted to last July and last week are contacting me for interviews. When trying to save $$ my role is the first cut, but when further cuts are needed I'm first hired to help make do with having fewer people.

My wife is making chicken broth. The whole house smells delicious.

I am very thankful for organizations like this. Yeah, it's funny, but it's also effective.

Thinking up surprises for my lady love. She deserves them.

LinkedIn used to show you how many people had already applied for jobs. A lot of jobs that I saw had like 600 applicants in the 4 hours since the job was posted. If I missed a day, that might be 1400. Now they just read "Over 100," probably to make us applicants feel a little better.

This is amazing and also pretty funny. Stick around for the credits.

Wow. While I wouldn't spoil a perfectly good cat with the name of my evil-ex, I can certainly see the appeal. Hat tip to my friend on Discord for this.

Job hunt update: After 3 interviews, I did not take 1st job because $$ & crappy benefits. 2nd job where I had an interview canceled because of a personal emergency that put the gig on hold. Just got contacted about a contract-to-hire with a firm I've worked with B4. Probably too excited about it.
