For those that might not know, Providence is the least affordable market in the country. I’m looking for apartments, and found a landlord who uploaded a screen shot of a $15,000 mink coat they were looking to buy mixed in with the listing photos. Can’t make this up.

Section 504 provides life saving and affirming support for the Disability community whether that is free access to public education (FAPE), and housing protections. This predates ADA and IDEA. 25% of the country has a disability. Trump’s admin & sycophants are engaging in eugenics.

17 states have filed lawsuits to end Section 504, which would lead to students with disabilities no longer being guaranteed public education and afterschool programming. Section 504 allowed me to be in regular integrated classes as someone with ASD. Section 504 was a lifeline in my childhood.

My issue with DOGE is that those with institutional power act as if gov’t spending on meeting our most basic needs (food, shelter, belonging) is wasteful. Yet there is no institutional challenge to fund ~$1 Trillion to the military, and billions to imprison immigrants. That is truly wasteful—

This is gutting Medicaid (FY23 budget was $880Bn). This is unquestionably a death sentence for our neighbors. Roughly 80 million people have Medicaid or about a 1/4th of the entire US population rely on it as a literal lifeline. This is social murder yet entirely legally permissible.

A government that defunds education domestically and bombs schools abroad is not a free country nor a good government. It’s a deeply unwell society that privileges hate over love, isolation over community, and conquest over compassion.

What’s disappointing and not surprising is how much our federal institutions have capitulated to transphobic, xenophobic, racist and ableist policy adoptions. Our democratic leadership couldn’t even be bothered to enter the department of education being blocked by minimal private security.

Donald Trump: “As far as Gaza is concerned … we’re going to take over that piece, we’re going to develop it and create thousands of thousands of jobs.” The U.S. President said US will “take over,” “level,” and “own,” Gaza and deploy US troops “if it is necessary.”

Trump’s “proposal” for Gaza is nothing less than the deliberate ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people from their land. The US continues to aid and support genocide. This is untenable, unconscionable, cruel, violent, and dehumanizing. We devalue our humanity when we deny Palestinians’ humanity.

It’s worth noting that one of the first acts of Nazi Germany was the looting of the institute of Sexology: A library dedicated to promoting equality for the LGBTQIA+ community. Fascism has also historically targeted immigrants, BIPOC, and the Disability communities.

The memo directs people who have questions to contact [email protected].

I was supposed to go to a public transit conference next week but it got cancelled by the feds since the theme was environmental justice. It’s quite shameful how quickly our federal institutions are complying with policies we know are wrong and violent—

In Trump’s first week, he’s done nothing to materially address the “cost of living” (not surprising) and instead has done everything in his power to undermine the humanity of immigrants, the Disability, LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities as well as fanning the flames of our climate crisis—

The chaos and opening the floodgates of horrible executive orders is the point. To push back and organize to take care of our communities is the response.

Gov McKee's budget defunds RIPTA considerably. If we implement a millionaires tax similar to MA (4%) that would generate ~$220,000,000 annually for transportation and education. RI has more millionaires per capita than Texas. Let's #SaveRIPTA and invest in transportation and education.

Trump’s $500Bn investment into AI power plants is taking power from the people. We’re literally using taxpayer dollars to fund private companies consuming power at an unsustainable rate. We can’t feed the poor but we can build power plants for a deeply unregulated industry.

The world’s richest (reichest) man having an office in the White House having direct decision making over his own contracts while owning one of the largest social media platforms to boost neo nazism and the great replacement theory is deeply deeply troubling. This is brazen and violent, & dangerous.

I can’t help but think of the recent unnatural disasters augmented by climate change and how community organizing has helped uplift so many facing hardship, while the federal government and police are antagonistic. Our gov’t set up detention centers during Katrina that targeted Muslims & Black ppl.-

The work and stakes remain the same: To collectively build, and organize a more just society. Fascism and oligarchy are not new phenomenon in the U.S., this however, is more overt than anytime in my life. Trump’s cabinet is worth half a Trillion $ and our minimum wage remains at $7.25.

As one of his final acts as president, Joe Biden commuted the life sentence of Leonard Peltier, an 80-year-old Native American activist and political prisoner who has been incarcerated for nearly half a century for a crime he maintains he did not commit. truthout.org/articles/bid...

1-in-50 U.S. billionaires are in Trump’s Cabinet.

Providence is the only metro >1 million along the Northeast corridor without true rapid transit. Mckee’s decision to divest from public transit will cost us greatly. Investment in public transit improves community health, full time employment, social cohesion, and the environment.

Israel has assassinated 205+ journalists and destroyed every university in Gaza. Being violently removed for asking legitimate questions shows the violent antagonism and disregard for a free press.

Biden’s legacy will be hosting a live-streamed genocide on our dime. This was ideological for him and he was willing to hand us Trump in order to annihilate Palestine:

Congestion Relief Zone tolling has been in effect for a week. Here's what the data says so far ⬇️

The LAPD is going after pedestrian looters, and not enforcing laws against landlords price gouging. Both are illegal, yet the landlords causing harm are not being accosted. A couple of dozen people have been arrested for looting in a metro of ~20 million. How many landlords have been arrested?

I’ve seen photos of bulldozers having to move abandoned cars in gridlocked traffic in SoCal. We need public transit integrated into evacuation plans, especially for our transit critical populations. People with disabilities are faced with violent fires with no means to evacuate.

It’s particularly abhorrent how Republican legislators are blaming these fires on diversity. The climate crisis is being driven by billionaires driven by profit over human life. The Resnicks siphon 150 billion gallons of water per year & 75% of GHG emissions come from fossil fuels. This is legal!

This is from a county in the Jackson MS metro, not even trying to hide their white Supremacy

I think something that is partially unspoken about Trumps imperial ambitions with Canada is the Northwest Passage. This is going to be one of the most significant geopolitical struggles of the next century. This will be a struggle of First Nations, EJ, Manifest Destiny, displacement, and extraction.

Important to remember that California voted against ending slavery to exploit prisoners who are coerced into fighting fires with no pay. An intersection of climate justice, mass incarceration, slavery, and oligarchy.

🌎🧩 — In response to recent threats by the incoming American Administration to annex Canada, the Sovereign Collective of Ojibways is making a call of unity to all Indigenous peoples in order to deter foreign entities from staking a claim to our territories. (1/6 🧵)

Seeing that the very first legislative priority of a country —with 18%+ homelessness, mass shootings, non-livable wages, and the climate crisis — is to make it easier to deport people and sanction the ICC is grim and does not need the urgency of our times. This is fascism and is bipartisan.
