I remember Studs Terkel responding to somebody smearing him as a communist by saying : “Suppose communists come out against cancer, do we have to automatically come out for cancer?‘” He could never imagine the US coming out FOR fatal disease 30 years later.

@theatlantic.com has a new piece by @annielowrey.bsky.social that treats ranked choice voting -- the ONLY one-round way to let people vote for their favorite candidate without benefiting their least favorite -- as inherently illegitimate and negative ; this is the opposite of the truth. Sloppy!
