As the #BrokenTimes and #BrokenPost call Trump's extortion a "deal", the #GoodGuardian once again shows them the way, calling it what it is: theft and blackmail. ‘It’s blackmail’: Ukrainians react to Trump demand for $500bn share of minerals www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Remember when Elise Stefanik conned news media into calling her a “moderate”?

All across the country, civil servants who worked in the federal government for a public good are risking their jobs to pushback against the Trump Administration. Here are some of their stories.

The Trump administration walked back cuts to a health program for 9/11 first responders and survivors, restoring research grants and the jobs of laid-off workers.

Ridiculous why did you make me hit you nonsense. Cancel your subscription to this and the NYT. Enablers.

Midcaps, small caps, and industrial stocks are all down since Election Day. This is very different from 2016-17:

Is it psychotic as the world’s richest man to have your 13th child with a fourth different mother, abandon the child to the point the mother seeks sole custody, and then text the mother asking for “legions” more children? Asking for a friend.

Another six-byline alarm on DOGE’s specious accounting. “That contract wasn’t canceled by DOGE or anyone else,” he said. “If they took credit for canceling the contract, they’re lying.” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

No doubt #DOGE will be all over this. 🤡

Warren Buffett said his company has paid the US government more than $101 billion in taxes since he took the helm 60 years ago, more than any other company in history, according to his annual letter to investors on Saturday.

DOGE’s expenses have risen above 40 million, with weekly costs now exceeding 10 million. We will release an updated DOGE staff list soon.

I'm glad that this story has been picked up by national and international outlets. One local outlet, D Magazine, has also highlighted the report. The rest of the mainstream news outlets in Dallas have not. Perhaps I'm being impatient but I must admit I'm confused as to why they've yet to pick it up.

One reason Trump is doing this is bc Trump has failed to come close to meeting his deportation promises. If that were to become a bigger narrative--if the mob learned that he was diverting NatSec resources yet is falling behind Sleepy Joe Biden's deportation numbers--Trump'd be in trouble.

Outbreaks of measles in parts of Texas and New Mexico have sickened nearly 100 people, according to state health officials who warned that the number of cases was expected to rise.

It is indefensible for legacy outlets to claim they “first reported” things independent journalists or less traditional outlets had first, which they obviously saw. It’s very common, WP does it but NYT is particularly notorious. And it’s not just tacky, it’s making an objectively false statement.

We NEED @blakegendebien.bsky.social to win. This is an all hands situation.

I agree.

Firing 7000 IRS agents will make it even easier for the rich to get away with skirting what they owe. But it's also a gift to the multi-billion dollar tax prep industry. Fewer IRS agents to help you file your taxes means more money in the pockets of companies like TurboTax.
