May I suggest that the reason why people felt like they, personally, are doing bad even when the stock market was good is because every few years we deliberately torch an entire employment sector and everyone who worked there has to migrate to a new career and start over from scratch

Publishers are going to be printing fewer books with lower advances for writers because of these tariffs. They're going to focus on "sure bets" with less interest in finding new talent. Self publishing is going to be even more expensive. It's going to hurt us all.
