Yesterday was a busy day here in Washington– here's a look at a day in my life fighting for you as your U.S. Senator.

Senator Kaine and I are on the Senate floor as we work to turn off Trump's tariffs, which are ultimately just a national sales tax on consumers. While prices are going up & your retirement savings go down, Senate Republicans are working overtime to make matters worse. youtube.com/shorts/xmX8K...

This is the country we love, and @democrats.senate.gov are always going to stand up for it. youtube.com/shorts/BzE50...

It's common sense: when we're facing workforce shortages, we should be helping those who served their time find good jobs while simultaneously supporting our local businesses and economies. I'm proud to reintroduce the Clean Slate Act — let's get it done. youtube.com/shorts/_G1Nb...

Today we're marking Second Chance month by announcing the reintroduction of the Clean Slate Act. This bipartisan bill will offer a fresh start to those who have served their time and paid their debt. It’s about jobs, housing, and education – and offering people a second chance.

Let Me Be Blunt: the first 100 days of this administration have been nothing but chaos, confusion, and uncertainty. Here are ten major ways they've made life worse for American families ⬇️ youtube.com/shorts/P5N6W...

Heartbroken by the tragedy that took place on the @udelaware.bsky.social campus yesterday. I'm praying for the family, friends, and loved ones of the student who lost their life and for the other community members who were injured to make a full recovery. www.newarkpostonline.com/news/ud-stud...

Stopped by to thank doctors from the American College of Emergency Physicians for everything they do to keep Delaware healthy. Getting wait times down, pushing back on abortion bans, and reducing burnout are priorities we share – I’ll do everything I can to support their work.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau helps Americans who get scammed, cheated, and ripped off by big companies. Now, the Trump Administration is trying to destroy it. But Congress created the CFPB, and we'll fight hard to defend it. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/04/...

Just spent a few hours on the steps of the capitol with @booker.senate.gov & @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social as people from all across the country shone a light on the harms of the Republicans' budget. There are all sorts of ways for you to show up in this moment— all you're called to do is your part.

I’m thankful to all the Delawareans who showed up today to make their voices heard at our town hall. In this moment, everyone has a role to play to defend our democracy. As your elected officials, we are working together to hold this administration accountable & fight for you.

Saddened to learn that Alexis Herman, our first Black Secretary of Labor, has passed. Her deep sense of justice guided her efforts to uplift workers, empower women, and fight for racial and economic equality. Her memory will be an inspiration for generations to come.

The Trump administration is now trying to use the FBI to go after judges they don’t like. Make no mistake: this is an administration relentlessly attacking the judicial system to stifle opposition and get their way. This is a red-alert moment.

Today is Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day. I join those around the world in remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust and the millions of people - including 6 million Jews - who were killed in one of humanity’s darkest and most evil acts.

They stripped the Education Department of all the programs to help our kids and kept the parts that go after borrowers already struggling to make ends meet. Let’s be clear: They’re selling out families everywhere to pay for their billionaire tax cuts.

Pete Hegseth’s consistent irresponsible mishandling of sensitive information endangers our national security. I said it before and I’ll say it again, he is not qualified to lead our military.

This Earth Day, take a moment to appreciate the beautiful place we call home. From our beaches to our farms, our outdoor spaces make Delaware a truly special place.   I’ll never stop working to protect our communities and secure a livable planet for future generations.

Pope Francis led with compassion and humility as he worked to protect our planet and the most vulnerable people on it. Today we come together to mourn his loss, honor his memory and celebrate his life.

Happy Easter, Delaware! Wishing everyone celebrating across our state a blessed day of joy and reflection.

Thank you to Network Connect for a great evening celebrating authenticity, transparency, and the power of community. Congratulations to all my fellow awardees!

Proud to celebrate the opening of Building X at @udelaware.bsky.social. Thanks in part to major federal investments, this learning hub will help UD stay at the forefront of scientific research and interdisciplinary collaboration for many years to come.

Public housing is a lifeline for countless families working hard every single day to keep a roof over their head. With Trump's tariffs driving up the cost of everything from groceries to housing supplies, deep cuts to the public housing system would be a catastrophe.

I was deeply honored to receive the Hal Haskell Hope for the Future Award from Delaware Futures this week. It was so inspiring to meet so many determined young people from all across the state.

The Supreme court must uphold the 14th Amendment and protect citizenship for children born in America.

From a university in Florida to a high school in Texas, our communities can't escape the horrors of gun violence— my heart is with everyone affected by school shootings this week. Heartbreaking reminders that there's still work to be done in the fight to end gun violence.

The Ramble represents an amazing vision for the redevelopment of the Broad Creek waterfront. From clean water and green infrastructure to workforce development and an unbelievable new park – there are exciting things happening in Laurel!

The impacts of our gun violence epidemic are felt deeply throughout our community – it’s devastating. Joined community leaders this morning for an important discussion about how their violence intervention efforts are making a difference here in Laurel.

Thank you to Henrietta Johnson Medical Center for the opportunity to see their care work firsthand and for shining a light on how devastating cuts to Medicaid would be to their patients. These cuts aren’t just a numbers game - there are lives on the line.

Was proud to speak to the Delaware Healthy Mother & Infant Consortium Summit in Wilmington this week. It'll take all of us to transform maternal and child health – it’s more important than ever.

Shortages in our health care workforce mean longer hospital stays, delayed treatments, and worse outcomes for patients. It was great to visit Bayhealth in Dover and hear about how they’re working to address these shortages here in central Delaware.

This administration is getting bolder in its defiance of the Courts and we should all be alarmed. From refusing to return a mistakenly deported man to denying freedom of the press, their dangerous ignorance of checks and balances threatens our nation's very foundation.

Glad to start my week at the Delaware State University Innovation Venture Summit. Our continuing partnership will be vital as we prepare future generations to address the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Wishing a happy Passover to all the Delawareans gathering around the Seder table this evening!

I just introduced my first bill as your Senator to help our communities build more housing and bring down housing costs. I know the housing crisis is top of mind for Delawareans, and I'm working across the aisle to do something about it.

A new poll shows that more than 70% of Americans worried about their personal finances. This President doesn't care about the hard choices families have to make when money gets tight – he's never had to make them. He may not care, but I'll never stop fighting to bring down costs.

It’s unbelievable that this administration’s bar for success is ‘avoiding a depression.’ They’re fine setting your retirement savings on fire and leaving millions of families to fend for themselves.

What happened to bringing down the cost of eggs on “day one”? With this administration, it’s broken promise after broken promise. www.newsweek.com/egg-prices-r...

Republicans just took another step to advance their terrible budget – threatening care for nearly 250,000 Delawareans to give their super-rich friends a massive tax break. It’s unacceptable, and I won't stop fighting to lessen the blow of this bad deal on our communities.

Stopped by to reassure advocates from Disability Rights Delaware that in the face of this administration’s deep cuts to vital funding and key staff, I’ll never back down from the work to support Delawareans with disabilities.

When I heard my brother in law was being honored as a Lung Force Hero here at the Capitol, I made sure I could be there. I'm proud to stand with the American Lung Association to support people living with lung cancer and I'll always fight to protect access to care.

This administration just brought us to the brink of a global economic meltdown only to change their mind at the drop of a hat. This chaos is on brand. America’s success depends on stability – this is no way to govern.

It was an honor to welcome New Zealand’s ambassador for a meeting in my office this afternoon. Together we emphasized the importance of the friendship between our nations.

The EPA needs a strong, experienced counsel to help make sure our environmental laws are enforced and our vital natural resources are protected. This administration doesn’t care about any of that. That’s why they appointed someone completely unqualified.

This is a stark look at what this administration’s economic policy means for the vast majority of families across this country. The ultra-rich get even richer while the rest get crushed.

This is a cartoonish waste of taxpayers’ money and abuse of government resources. If only there was a department looking into this sort of thing. 🤔

For as long as I've been in Congress, I've been working to give those who have served their time & paid their debt to society a second chance & a clean slate. April is Second Chance Month, a chance to redouble our commitment to this bipartisan work - let's get it done.
