Hey @alisonborealis.bsky.social — I talked to @gandersocial.bsky.social folks and it’s a fork of the Bluesky app right now. What this means is — all the content you see here, you can see there, but perhaps layers of custom Canadian feeds, verification, and so on.

Not exactly #athiring but close enough

Somewhere between May 1st International Workers Day, May 4th Star Wars Day, and May 5th Cinco de Mayo is kind of an amazing annual time frame to celebrate having each of ATProto’s architectural components composed and hosted. Solidarity space wizards defeating the (French) empire.

Had an amazing meal at Yuji’s, with a number of dishes I haven’t seen elsewhere in Vancouver. - Sat at the bar with @rachaelashe.com, I had a draft Asahi - Baked Eggplant with mozzarella - Takenoko Dengaru - grilled bamboo shoots - Chawanmushi - steamed egg custard

I just scored 8,660 on a game of at://2048. Think you can do better? Join in on the fun with @2048.blue. === An ATProto game by @baileytownsend.dev

v0.1 alpha of at://2048 is now live! A full Rust 🦀 WASM powered SPA to play 2048. Can play with or without an ATProto login. But if you do, then you can sync your stats and games with your AT Protocol repo and be a part of future leaderboards! 2048.blue

Bought a whole bunch of electronica albums from this Bandcamp article "Remembering Horst Weidenmüller, !K7 Founder and Electronic Visionary" daily.bandcamp.com/lists/horst-...

By choosing to build on atproto, innovators have the advantage of starting with all the following pre-built: - structured datastore - distribution + moderation infra - large existing user base - trivial social integration ... allowing immediate focus on what's unique to their app or community

I’m a @subvert.fm co-op member and I guess @tgoerke.bsky.social saw my write up on the forum about how Subvert should integrate and connect with ATProto. Communities need to be thinking about protocols not platforms. I hope we can make it easier to show how to aggregate user owned data.

The entire key backup flow with secure storage!

Happy Friday! Next Thursday, we're going to kick off #IndieSkyWG with a video call. We've asked @robin.berjon.com to speak briefly about @freeourfeeds.com Join us if you're actively looking to run independent architecture and want to find others to work together with. lu.ma/xpg8kqbk

A note: I ended up switching to #IndieSkyWG because there’s a bunch of indie musicians (and maybe game devs?) using that tag already. Happy Bandcamp Friday!

pretty damn close to a 100% top-to-bottom bluesky-free bluesky ✅ indie pds (lots) ✅ indie relay (mine + others now!) ✅ indie jetstream (mine + many more (optional)) 🌀 indie appview (AppViewLite has some issues, @futur.blue's should work, more in progress) ✅ indie client (@aviva.gay's deer.social !)

Just got off a call with @benjaminwaldman.bsky.social who is building @gandersocial.bsky.social - a Canadian-focused Bluesky app. They've started by forking social app on mobile and are thinking through other pieces. Sign up for early access here

This LLM discourse is so polarizing, which at this time means it is a damaging distraction. It reminds me so much of GMOs. Monopolies have negative social consequences. New tech enables land grabs. These arguments are defensible. No need to waste time on easily-disproved BS about how the tech works

interested in relay infrastructure and firehose protocol details? we have an update for you about our new relay implementation, and progress on rolling out Sync v1.1

Huge shout out to @jasooooon.bsky.social for writing this very important story for @wired.com . Also love to see @atbw.bsky.social and @bergisjules.bsky.social get light for the very important work they are and have been doing for years. ✊🏾 Blacksky is memory work 🖤

If you’re in NYC and curious about checking out Folk Computer we’re having another open house event Saturday, May 31! lu.ma/ydi03zax
