Cruzcampo is really going gangbusters here in the sunny SE. Presumably Madri is the entry drug? And how important are the stemmed glasses?

Cologne beer hall dinner on Friday. Cologne beer hall dinner yesterday. Cologne beer hall lunch scheduled before the train home today. We're having great fun hanging out with Ray's mum but are beginning to look forward to some dry days, and some vegetables.

Why did it take more than 7 years to complete? 400,000 words covering 300 years and 56 countries, 61 chapters, four appendices, 120 illustrations, five maps. zythophile.co.uk/2025/02/22/p...

GOOD MORNING! Here's our regular weekly round-up of good writing about beer and pubs, with more juicy nuggets than longreads this week. 🍺🍻 boakandbailey.com/2025/02/news...

A reminder that there are still beer magazines out there.

Just a Lidl Imperial Stout. #BeerSky

Lommi. 🍺🍻

Sad to hear @beerblefishbrewing.bsky.social is shutting up shop next month 🙁

Yeah, this is how it happens. I feel precisely the same about Magic Rock and I've done the Doom Bar about-turn. The Bass exception puzzle was something I grappled with in that thing I wrote for @pelliclemag.com a while ago.

Our monthly newsletter has just gone out, with thoughts on those breweries you might not be boycotting but... Subscribers should find it in their inboxes. Non-subscribers (weird) can read it online. 👇 boakandbailey.substack.com/p/the-soft-b...

Do you like standing around? How about being cold? Feeling awkward in a strange place? Then why not consider a Collaboration Brew™

Loving this pic that's doing the rounds at the moment. It was taken by the actor Steven Berkoff who roamed the streets of Glasgow taking snaps when he wasn't on stage: www.streetlevelphotoworks.org/event/steven...

Okay, we lied – inspiration struck and our call for contributions to Session #144 is up now: boakandbailey.com/2025/02/the-... 🍺🍻

We're hosting the February edition of The Session which takes place next Friday, on the 28th. This crept up on us a bit (work, life) but we'll share the topic tomorrow. Here's last month's round up to give you an idea of how it works: abetterbeerblog427.com/2025/02/01/t...

Sunday afternoon in the intimate tramcar car at The Kings Head, Bristol, where eight conversations overlap. 🍻🍺

“Could I have the pint of Tribute in a straight glass rather than a dimple mug, please?”

We don't want to get anyone in trouble by mentioning this in specific terms in blog posts but there are two types of Bristol pub: 1. Stinks of weed. 2. Doesn't.

Class! Roosters Brewery Tap, Hornbeam Park for a Baby Faced Assassin with its tropical fruit notes. Ticket already purchased for their Suds with Buds invitational beer festival which is unmissable. A superb article on the Brewery in @pelliclemag.com below www.pelliclemag.com/home/2025/1/...

GOOD MORNING! Here's our regular weekly round-up of news, links and commentary from the world of beer and pubs. 🍺🍻 boakandbailey.com/2025/02/news...

Crikey. You just need to be a little bit vigilant when it's card only. I know it's Leeds city centre mate but I very much doubt that cask is £5.50 a half (after starting to pour the wrong beer too).....

Lost & Grounded having a go at Czech lager with *remarkable* success. It's not Pilsner Urquell but it tastes so fresh and bitter. A proper pick-us-up. 🍺🍻

It's a cracker this month. Packed with intel.

When a pub only opens on a Brigadoon-style schedule, you go when you get the chance: #SpeirGorm www.weirdodublinpubs.com/weirdo-guide...

As we approach two decades of BrewDog watching, James Watt reinventing himself as the Taxpayers' Alliance is not *totally* surprising... www.linkedin.com/posts/jamesw...

BLOG POST: Notes on the 19 pubs we found notes on in old copies of The Golden Cockerel from 1962 to 1964. Fans of modernism and post-war kitsch will enjoy this. 🍺🍻 boakandbailey.com/2025/02/cour...

Visited Stoke Newington’s Coach and Horses today for this week’s @londonbeercity.bsky.social. It’s currently being refurbished - they’ve found these 19th-century booze adverts hidden behind the panelling

Announcing: A tour for A Place To Be 🗺️ I'm putting on a few small events/readings/q+a sessions across the country!

Nothing mini about this book. It arrived earlier today and is packed full of information about 1970s beer in the UK.

Every Pub in Bristol number 312: the newly-opened Pickled Parrot in St George. Our nearest micropub! Tiny but well designed. 🍻🍺

I do not recommend sculling a 13% imperial stout before airport security

Classic beer, classic pub. Taylors Boltmaker at The Albion, Chester. Corner location in terraced streets. Wonderful display of enamel signage. Understandably very busy on a Saturday afternoon but service effortless

In Sheffield on Thursday I went to order a beer and looked at the cask list on a blackboard before I made my pick. I ordered it, but when the bartender went to pour I noticed the pump clip was AI generated so I stopped them and asked for something else.

GOOD MORNING! Here's the latest edition of news, nuggets and longreads, with a few bits from Burton, two pub crawls, a bit of snarky opinion, and quite a lot of news. 🍺🍻 boakandbailey.com/2025/02/news...
