Remember USA nuclear subs visible from our beach in Cuba crisis. USAF war planes overhead from Prestwick. Didn’t trust US as a child, even less now. Individuals, I judge as individuals. US govt not at all.

@mancunianmedic.bsky.social may sound frivolous but I regret near absence of obituaries from BMJ. Young, before IT, tore it open job adverts (b4 training schemes universal, & always needing new job in few months, next year…) Still in BMA in retirement. Obituaries enforced idea of common purpose.

@ottoenglish.bsky.social when I was 15 my dad told me you shouldn’t vote for who’s best for you but who’s good for everyone. Perhaps the only advice he gave me I remember. Why some vote for parties which favour a tiny privileged minority is a complete mystery.
