BREAKING: The US Supreme Court lifts limits on deporting migrants to countries not their own

Out-of-context lyric this morning, thinking of those working for peace and justice: I’m that old-time telegraph man, and I came here with a simple job to do. ‘Cause that news coming down the wire says that your world's on fire, and I'm trying to get a message through to you (Dave Rawlings).

Give this @anneapplebaum.bsky.social piece a read:

SPIELBERG: When John Williams first played me his theme to “Jaws”, “I began to laugh .. He had a great sense of humor, I thought he was putting me on.” (via Todd Spence) @benstiller.redhour.com

I’m a proud supporter of the IRC’s work with refugees, this #WorldRefugeeDay and always.

“ICE in just a few weeks has transformed itself into the closest thing that the US has ever had to a ‘secret police,’ with more seemingly culturally in common with the Klan nightriders of Reconstruction than their federal agency brethren like the FBI or ATF.” @garrettgraff.bsky.social

Friday hot take. The world is on fire. And coffee is a default hot beverage.

if you don’t know the history of Dodger Stadium you can’t fully understand what unfolded today. thanks @chrislhayes.bsky.social for the opportunity to share it.

Time for the annual schoolhouse rock style history lesson about slavery and the origins of Juneteenth from The Roots

Very confused on how Juneteenth presents logistical issues that St. Patrick's Day does not. Also, can we stop using DEI as a euphemism for Black and just be honest? Juneteenth is not a "diversity initiative" it's a holiday celebrating Black folks' freedom. Full stop.

A short video about Juneteenth:

Protesters filled plazas, streets and parks across the U.S. on Saturday, gathering at demonstrations to call for protecting American democracy from President Trump. Follow live updates. nyti.ms/4e3BIzD

My kids know an American flag when they see one – but they don't yet know all that it represents. When they're old enough, here is what I'm going to tell them:

A few pics from #NoKings in NYC today. A purposeful, peaceful, powerful protest.

A reminder from @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social: “When we protest peacefully together…we model courage on behalf of justice and solidarity with others, and we transform our individual outrage into a potent moral force…

This year alone, the ACLU and our affiliates have conducted over 150 Know Your Rights trainings, where we’ve ensured supporters are informed on how to use their rights, follow the law, and advocate for our communities while keeping each other safe. Community care is part of our resistance.

An advance look at “On Parade,” David Plunkert’s cover for next week's issue. #NewYorkerCovers

#NoKingsDay talking points. See y’all out there tomorrow, @50501movement.bsky.social.

Essential point from Senator Patty Murray (D-WA): “This is a lie. We all saw the video…If these miserable propagandists will lie to you about roughing up a U.S. Senator in a room full of reporters, what won't they lie to you about?”

58 years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled on the side of our clients Mildred and Richard Loving, legalizing interracial marriages nationwide. This Loving Day, we honor the generations of families who were torn apart by anti-miscegenation laws and celebrate the couple that changed history.

The most important words of our Constitution are the first three: We the People. We have no Kings here, no monarchs, no slaves and no subjects. We the People.

“.. He is declaring utterly bogus emergencies for the sake of trying to expand his power, undermine the Constitution and destroy civil liberties ..” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/u...

The sitting U.S. president said these words yesterday: “For those people that want to protest, they’re going to be met with very big force.” #FirstAmendment

I’m beginning to think the pro-biz, pro-growth party may be neither: World Bank Forecast Underscores Cost of U.S. Trade War

Press freedom and protection is a hallmark of a free and civil society. This isn’t that.

Breaking: ABC News says senior national correspondent Terry Moran "has been suspended pending further evaluation." This since-deleted tweet is the reason for the suspension:

I just gonna go ahead and say that putting active duty United States Marines on the streets of an American city is, in fact, heavy handed.

I'm attending No Kings's event, “NO KINGS New York City March” - sign up now to join me!

The Los Angeles Police Department has stated that demonstrations in the city have remained peaceful. Let that sink in.

The government is returning Abrego Garcia to the US where he will face criminal charges. In other words, due process, including an opportunity to defend himself in court. abcnews.go.com/US/mistakenl...

Rest of the world to the USA right now. Like, srsly.
