I'm going to start breaking things up - piercing/modification content here, tattoo stuff on @occultvibrations.com I feel that body art is holistic; to me its all kind of part & parcel, but I can see how my tattoo folks may not want to see a split penis while they're scrolling tattoo history stuff.

This is Harriet- they’d like you to know that team Sacred Debris will be attending this year’s BMENet conference in Berlin! Can’t wait to see old friends and make new ones!

This is Debra Cooper; she tattoos and was the cohost of a series of 1980s/90s tattoo documentary videos with her partner Royboy. The films are dated and at times problematic but provide rarely paralleled documentation of a time/place in tattoo & piercing culture. sacreddebris.com

This is a business card for tattooer Guy Aitchison, early 1990s. sacreddebris.com

This is Jacci, from New Orleans. Video- late 80s? Jacci's ART ACCENT shop in NO was a must visit for tattoo travelers in the 80s and 90s. Longer video will likely end up on our IG or Patreon - BS's video interface isn't great. sacredderis.com

This is a Polaroid of Jim Ward- considered the granddaddy of the piercing industry- piercing the nipple of “Rufus of Rochester” - late 1970s or early 80s. Note the thimble on Jim’s finger; early piercing needles were considerably less sharp than their modern counterparts. http://sacreddebris.com

This is a colored pencil study for a tattoo by Don Ed Hardy. I consider Ed the most important folk artist of the 20th Century and the coolest I've ever felt was when Ed knew my name. I'm not cool, but for a second...

This is TRASH: True Revelations and Strange Happenings. Published by Mr. Trash (aka tattooer John Dagion) and featuring questionably true stories about truckers, bikers, carnies, and rough trade.

This is Larry and Mary- Hackensack 1975. A “t&p” party was a tattoo & piercing party. Some were play events. Others potlucks. I often say body piercing history is queer history and that’s true, but it’s not the whole story. Swingers, eccentrics, mystics, leathermen and women made up the scene.

I’m so happy about this new tattoo by @melofmontreal.bsky.social

This is a GIP flier for tattooists Guy Aitchison and Jack Kaplan- approx 1991. sacreddebris.com

This is a 1990s flier for tattoo artists Guy Aitchison and Mad Jack Kaplan. sacreddebris.com

This is Daniel Higgs and Skull Defekts. 2011.

This is an illustration by erotic artist BUD for DRUMMER magazine. Bud did illos for Drummer and PFIQ and despite his "kinky Hirschfeld" aesthetic, never reached the same level of queer art fame as Tom, Rex, the Hun, etc. sacreddebris.com

BMXNet early birds get the worm!

This is Mike Wilson, tattoo artist, 2001. I met Mike in 1992. A lifetime ago now. He wasn't tattooing yet and I wasn't old enough to see a rated R movie. Funny how fast time goes. sacreddebris.com

This is Tom's chest, Philadelphia PA 2005. Tom's upper torso and back are covered with decorative scarification. sacreddebris.com

Our new zine is now available for domestic & international orders! Surgical body modification, tattoo history, body suspension history, body jewelry oral history, facial skewering - it’s rad. nodalpointszine.com

When I was 24, I co-hosted the first in a series of underground surgical body modification conventions. When I was 50, I gave a lecture about it. This book is a lecture companion to that 8/2/24 talk. And it has split penises in it. So.. money well spent.

Valentine's Week is usually my big fundraising week. Hard as it is to believe, there's not a lot of funding for folks who toil in the history of surgical body modification, queer tattoo icons, and the assorted chicanery we deep dive. Apologies for the constant BUY THIS STUFF posts this week.

Be my valentine 💌

We have a small amount of our 2024 Valentine's Cards/Sticker sets featuring artwork by our friend Astor Bonder up on our webshop. All of our merch sales fund our body modification archival and documentation.

This is tattooer Davy Jones, 1970s. Davy was responsible for Fakir Musafar's iconic blackwork back tattoo. 35mm negative scan, photographer Robin Ryan. sacreddebris.com

These are screenshots from the documentary film TATTOOING REALITY, by Michael O Stearns, celebrating Ed Hardy & Realistic Tattoo. The tattooer pictured is Dan Thome; "loyal to the coil" bros are probably unaware that in 1985, Ed Hardy hired a hand-poke tattoo artist @ Realistic. sacreddebris.com

This is Bud H, called A VIKING NAVARO to his body art friends and lovers from the 1960s-80s. A self-described atavist and Modern Primitive, Bud was also an econ professor. We put together a book of his photos a few years back: www.blurb.com/b/10708501-s...

Here’s a healed photo of an older one on Lane.

This is Avery in a photo from our tattoo history site OV; Avery’s head tattoo was done by Daniel Higgs at Tattoo City. sacreddebris.com

This is a tattoo by Sailor Eddie Evans of Camden. The wearer approached me in a grocery store to show it off. He was tickled that I knew Sailor Eddie's work (and son). sacreddebris.com

Wandering Vulva (Pierced) Valentine's Day Cards are up in our web shop!

Today would have been Kenneth Anger's 98th birthday. Evan Lovett was kind enough to immortalize the Magus on my clavicles last year. Hail Anger.

We're doing a quick pre-order for the newest issue of our book series Nodal Points; these are going to go on sale officially on Valentine's Day directly from the printer, but if you'd like to get one directly from us... the preorder is up until 02/06

This is INDELIBLE IDENTITIES; a new lecture series I’m currently building to highlight the contributions of LGBTQ+ tattooers and collectors. Work progresses for a summer launch, with John Dagion as our first subject. sacreddebris.com
